Jun 21 Can Giants quarterback Daniel Jones finally silence his critics by having a performance on par, if not better than the one he delivered in 2022? That's one of the biggest questions the team and its fan base are hoping for, especially after the Giants passed on the opportunity to add a quarterback in this year's draft.

Jun 19 The Giants have signed former United Football League running back Jacob Saylors. Saylors spent the 2024 UFL season with the St. Louis Battlehawks. The 5-foot-10, 199-pound back recorded 94 rush attempts for 461 yards (4.9 avg.) and five touchdowns along with 23 receptions for an additional 152 yards and three scores. The 24-year-old earned All-UFL honors as he led all running backs in rushing yards and was tied for the second-most rushing touchdowns.

Jun 17 Malik Nabers contorted his body in the air in the corner of the end zone to make a leaping touchdown grab over Cor'Dale Flott during a minicamp practice. It was the finishing touch on an afternoon that was dominated by the rookie receiver. There is little doubt that Nabers made his presence felt in his first few months with the Giants this spring. He immediately became a fixture on the first-team offense in practices while being featured in multiple spots all over the field. It's as if the team has already decided Nabers is its No. 1 receiver with tight end Darren Waller officially retired.

Jun 16 John Michael Schmitz aims to take a big jump in year 2. Schmitz is coming off an inconsistent rookie season that included four missed games due to injury. Schmitz is the first to acknowledge that his rookie season wasn't nearly as good as it could have been and that he's been doing something about that this off-season to ensure that his second NFL season is significantly better.

Jun 15 The Giants biggest lingering issues entering training camp, including Daniel Jones, Evan Neal, more. The Giants just finished spring practices. So they're now off for about six weeks, until training camp begins in late July. Let's take a look at their biggest lingering issues entering camp.

Former Giants
Ben Bredeson - The fifth-year guard spent the past three years with the G-Men, appearing in 45 games, with 25 starts, and is now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Bredeson started 16 games last year for the Giants. Now, though, Bredeson is making the most of his reps with the Bucs and he turned heads at minicamp. With Bredeson, could this be yet another case of former Giants offensive line coach Bobby Johnson holding someone back?

Jun 14 The New York Giants began the offseason workout program on April 15, ramping up from strength and conditioning to 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills. Now the team will break until reporting for training camp in late July. Michael Ghobrial and 31 other special teams coordinators around the NFL have now had two months to tinker with the new kickoff rules in an on-field setting. So, how will it change the game?

Jun 13 New York Giants minicamp takeaways: Abbreviated workout precedes summer break. Brian Daboll has been doing the offensive play-calling this spring, though he has yet to admit he will do so during the season. So, what is offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, who called plays the past two seasons, doing? Kafka said he taking not calling plays "as an opportunity just to continue to grow as a coach and be, again, an asset to those coaches and players." Kafka saw how things function with the head coach calling plays when he was in Kansas City with Chiefs coach Andy Reid.

Jun 12 Minicamp is underway at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center. The head coach decided to forego 7-on-7 drills on Tuesday and instead ran full 11-on-11 in team periods. Naturally, his competitive quarterback was none too pleased to hear that news. As part of his rehab progression, Daniel Jones had been participating in 7-on-7s all spring and then turning the keys over to the backup quarterbacks for 11-on-11. Daboll said it's part of the plan to have Jones and everyone else ready for the first day of training camp. "I expect to be ready to go the first day of training camp," said Jones, who added that his cuts have felt "sharper" and "cleaner" as his explosiveness returns.

Jun 11 Seven NY Giants mandatory minicamp storylines to follow. A look at some of what we'll be watching as the Giants hit the field for their 2024 mandatory minicamp. The non-contact, padless practices, much like the 10 OTAs before them, are a chance for the coaching staff to gauge how far the players have come both individually and as a unit.

Jun 10 NY Giants tight end Darren Waller is calling it a career. Waller discussed his decision to retire in a video posted to YouTube on Sunday, saying that a health scare he experienced in November gave him clarity about his life. Waller detailed a "very scary situation" during which he struggled to breathe and ultimately spent over 3 days in the hospital unable to stand up, use the restroom or feed himself. Waller had stayed away from the team this offseason as he contemplated his future, bypassing a potential $200,000 workout bonus and now a base salary of $10.525 million for this upcoming season..

Jun 9 The New York Giants concluded the voluntary portion of the offseason workout program by wrapping up OTAs this week. There still remains a two-day minicamp next week, which will be mandatory and will officially wrap up the offseason workouts. But before we get there, the Giants gave plenty of nuggets from their 10 sessions at OTAs during the months of May and June.

Jun 8 How would the Giants need to adjust if Darren Waller retires, as is expected? If Waller announced his retirement, where would he leave the Giants offense? The immediate thought goes to the tight end room, which would now be left with Daniel Bellinger, Chris Manhertz, Jack Stoll, Tyree Jackson (injured), Lawrence Cager, and rookie Theo Johnson. Bellinger has had an inconsistent first two years of his career as far as production goes, but the film has been good, and his blocking ability is the best on the team.

Jun 7 The Giants were back on the practice field Thursday for the penultimate OTA practice at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center. The offense spent a majority of the team drills practicing inside the red zone, which produced plenty of fireworks. As we've seen throughout these spring practices, both sides of the ball have displayed tremendous effort during individual and team drills. The hard work put in during this part of the offseason should help the team jump right back into things when training camp kicks off next month.

Former Giants
Sterling Shepard explains massive reason he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Injuries and battling through multiple concussions in recent seasons have wreaked havoc on Shepard's career. The 31-year-old caught just 10 passes for 57 yards with a touchdown last season. However, the Buccaneers are hopeful that Shepard can make a legitimate push for the starting slot receiver role in Baker Mayfield's arsenal.

Jun 4 Special Report - It's not exactly a case of getting even being the best revenge, but the Philadelphia Eagles are abut to pay some sort of penalty for violating the free agent communications rules imposed by the NFL when they signed Giants' running back Saquon Barkley to a three-year contract as the signing period started. It won't bring Barkley back to the Giants - nor should they want him after his abrupt decision to leave the team - but it might inflict a bit of discomfort on the Eagles in the form of the forfeiture of a draft choice or two.

Jun 2 The 2023 New York Giants disappointed after qualifying for the postseason in 2022, but this year's team is poised to cash in on a slew of young players general manager Joe Schoen has brought in the past few years. There are six breakout candidates to keep an eye on.

Jun 1 Why you shouldn't sleep on WR Darius Slayton's value to Giants in 2024. Who knows quarterback Daniel Jones better than Slayton? They are both going into year three of this offensive system and not only will it make Daniel Jones sharper, but Slayton should also be more familiar with the system, allowing him to play more freely. Defenses will not be able to throw double coverage on rookie first-round pick Malik Nabers for fear of leaving the defense vulnerable to Slayton, who has consistently proven over his first five seasons that he is difficult to handle at the second and third levels.

May 31 One of the most important off-season additions made by the New York Giants is not on offense, defense, or special teams. It is, instead, on the coaching staff, where head coach Brian Daboll decided after last season to terminate offensive line coach Bobby Johnson, whose injury-plagued unit ranked 30th according to Pro Football Focus's pass-blocking efficiency with Carmen Bricillo, who spent two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders and before that with legendary offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia in New England.

May 30 General manager Joe Schoen and the front office made it a point to bolster the OL room during the offseason, signing guards Jon Runyan Jr. and Jermaine Eluemunor in free agency. But despite his struggles, ESPN insider Jordan Ranaan believes the Giants will roll out Evan Neal next to Runyan on the right side. This could prove to be a terrific or terrible move.

May 29 Darius Slayton back? The Giants' leading receiver in four of the last five seasons was conducting a soft holdout from voluntary practices while he hopes for a new contract. However, photos released from the team included Slayton participating in Tuesday's practice. That's a big development. Maybe it means the Giants came to an agreement on a new deal for Slayton, or maybe he felt the need to return to the team. Either way, the Giants got the running mate for Malik Nabers back.

May 27 Giants pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux has set a big personal goal as he enters his third season in New York. Michael Strahan held the sack record alone for two decades after setting the mark during his 2001 Defensive Player of the Year campaign. Watt tied that record while taking home the same award in 2021. Thibodeaux, who recorded a career-high 11.5 sacks in 2023, has arguably his best opportunity to date to chase history.

May 25 New York Giants tight end Darren Waller is taking his time to make a decision on whether or not to return for a ninth NFL season. That's just fine with his head coach, Brian Daboll, who says the team will give Waller all the time he needs. The Giants, meanwhile, should be better-positioned to manage not having Waller this year than they were a year ago after drafting former LSU star Malik Nabers with the No. 6 overall pick last month. Along with Wan'Dale Robinson now being fully recovered from his 2022 ACL tear, Jalin Hyatt heading into Year 2, and Darius Slayton returning, New York at least has a professional-looking receiver room.

May 24 Daniel Jones has no doubt he'll be ready Week 1; QB wasn't 'fired up' Giants looked at drafting QB. Daniel Jones expects to be in the saddle Week 1. Coming off a torn ACL suffered in November, the New York Giants quarterback participated in 7-on-7 drills this week during OTAs. Asked Thursday if there are any doubts that he'll be ready to face Minnesota to open the 2024 campaign, Jones responded: "I don't have any doubt about it." Head coach Brian Daboll said the Giants are still taking it slow with the QB coming off injury, keeping him out of full team drills.

May 23 The NFL has dropped the hip-drop, with John Mara's strong support. This year, the committee's discussions on the subject were dominated by the hip-drop tackle, which occurs when a defender wraps up a ballcarrier, swivels his hips, and drops onto the ballcarrier's legs. The play has been responsible for a disproportionate number of injuries, many of them serious and long-term. Mara said, "The owners also gave coaches a third challenge if at least one of his first two are successful. Coaches were previously limited to two replay requests a game."

May 22 The Giants were back on the field for OTA No. 2 at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center. They spent the bulk of the morning practice in the red zone, leading to plenty of action during 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills.

May 21 The Giants had their first OTA (organized team activity) of the offseason program on Monday at Quest Diagnostics Training Center. The first two phases of the offseason program constituted an opportunity for team and positional meetings, strength and conditioning, and non-competitive individual fieldwork with the offense and defense. OTA's represent phase three of the offseason program, which is the first time the offense and defense can face off together on the field. There are still rules that limit the parameters of that competition. No contact is allowed.

May 20 The small, rectangular room on the second floor of the Cedar Grove municipal building was packed with 100 chairs, only half of them filled. It served as the site of a ceremony honoring Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito were primarily DeVito's family and friends. They watched the five-minute session in which DeVito was presented a proclamation and a key to the township where he grew up and where his family still lives. "What Tommy did last year, another year in the system, Tommy has come a long way," general manager Joe Schoen said this offseason.

May 18 To celebrate their 100th season, the Giants are sending a gift box to all season-ticket accounts prior to the start of the season, which will include a set of replica Super Bowl rings and a double-sided commemorative ticket with one side replicating an original design from 1925.

May 17 To commemorate their 100th season, the New York Giants unveiled a "Century Red" uniform, which the team will wear for up to two games in 2024. The uniform harkens back to the earliest days of the franchise and features tan pants; red socks with blue and white stripes from the team's inaugural 1925 season; red jerseys accented with blue from 1933, when the Giants played in the first ever NFL Championship Game; and an iconic winged helmet honoring the 1938 champions as the Giants became a cornerstone in the foundation of the league. All of the team's 2024 jerseys will feature the team's "100 Seasons" patch.

May 16 The New York Giants' 2024 schedule was released along with the rest of the NFL slate on Wednesday. There are some notable games for the 100th season in franchise history, including their first regular-season trip to Germany. The Giants play the Carolina Panthers in Week 10 at Allianz Arena in Munich before their bye week. Later that month, they have a Thanksgiving afternoon game on the road against the Dallas Cowboys.

Five games to circle on Giants' 2024 schedule. Every game is big in the NFL, but some just get hyped more than others. From traveling overseas for their first regular-season game in Germany to facing a rival on Thanksgiving, the Giants' 2024 schedule has it all. Here are five intriguing games to circle this season.

May 14 The Intrigue behind the New York Giants 2024 schedule. It won't be much longer before the 2024 NFL regular-season schedules are released for all 32 teams. The New York Giants' 2024 schedule, whose opponents were first confirmed at the end of last season, should be interesting and filled with many subplots.

May 12 Can Allen Robinson's strong hands, route running, and experience elevate the Giants' passing game? Because he is an excellent route runner and has great change of direction, he is capable of breaking out of routes quickly, and he knows how to burst into open windows in defense. This makes him great against man coverage because he keeps the defense guessing about which direction he is going to break in.

May 11 Tyrone Tracy, Jr. had never stepped foot in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area before he arrived here Thursday to participate in the Giants' rookie minicamp. The Indiana native is eager to see what the big city is all about. A running back selected in the fifth round of the NFL Draft, Tracy believes he has the ability and the opening to instantly contribute.

May 8 The New York Giants added a quarterback to their roster by claiming Canadian quarterback and former New England Patriots passer Nathan Rourke off of waivers. He's the fourth quarterback on the 90-man roster, behind incumbent starter Daniel Jones, challenger Drew Lock, and depth-passer-turned-viral-sensation Tommy DeVito. With the Giants, he'll serve two purposes: being an able-bodied arm for training camp and potentially pushing for DeVito's spot as the third-string quarterback.

May 7 It's been a long time coming but New York Gants legend Chris Snee will finally be making his return to East Rutherford. Chris Snee finally returns to Giants, hired as a scout. Originally a second-round pick in the 2004 NFL draft, Snee spent 10 seasons with the Giants, establishing himself as one of the best guards in the league.

May 5 The New York Giants selected former Purdue running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. with the No. 166 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. A former wide receiver turned running back, Tracy Jr. projects as a versatile weapon for a new-look offense. His multi-purpose skill set should allow him to make a positive impact as a first-year contributor.

May 2 Giants sign veteran defensive back David Long. New York finally adds a veteran cornerback to a relatively young room. Long joins a relatively young cornerbacks room headed by Deonte Banks, last year's first-round draft pick who earned a starting role. Long's competition for the CB2 starting role will include Nick McCloud and Tre Hawkins III.

May 1 Did the New York Giants get good value in the 2024 NFL Draft? Instant grades, value assessments and the like immediately after the draft are what they are - fodder for discussion and snap judgment about which teams did well and which teams did not. What truly matters is how these players perform once they get on the field. Do they play well and help their teams win? Do they, after a period of a couple of years, prove to be the wrong choice and contribute to getting the GM and/or head coach fired? In terms of the Giants' draft, we will find out.

Apr 30 Special Report - The Giants failed to help the O-line.
For the Giants, the 2024 draft ended with the sixth round, and here they are:
1 - Wide Receiver Malik Nabers, LSU
2 - Safety Tyler Nubin, Minnesota
3 - Cornerback Andru Phillips, Kentucky
4 - Tight end Theo Johnson, Penn State
5 - Running back Tyrone Tracy, Purdue
6 - Linebacker Darius Muasau, UCLA
And no, you aren't missing anything, nor are your eyes deceiving you. There is not an offensive lineman to be found, despite the fact that many thought this was the prime area of need for the team. Well, apparently general manager Joe Schoen didn't think that was the case, nor did he receive any prompting from his buddy from Buffalo, head coach Brian Daboll.

Apr 29 Joe Schoen often says the Giants' roster is an evolving entity. But the heavy lifting is mostly finished regarding the construction of the 2024 team. This offseason, the Giants have signed 14 veteran free agents, traded for two-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Brian Burns, and this weekend, drafted six players. They will add several undrafted free agents, particularly before the rookie minicamp in two weeks.

Apr 27 Update - NY Giants undrafted free agent tracker: Full list of every UDFA signed. Will any of these UDFAs earn a spot on the 53-man roster?

Apr 27 Update - The New York Giants kicked off their undrafted free agent class with a UCLA defensive back that was a turnover machine in 2023. "Former UCLA defensive back Alex Johnson will sign with the New York Giants," relayed UCLA reporter James H. Williams after the conclusion of the NFL draft. Most undrafted prospects aren't guaranteed any money, let alone a six-figure agreement. The Giants must have really wanted him if they shelled out $115,000 just to get him in the building.

Apr 27 Update - Giants select LB Darius Muasau with 183rd pick in 2024 NFL Draft.

Apr 27 Update - New York Giants Draft Versatile Running Back-Receiver-Returner Tyrone Tracy in Round 5 of 2024 NFL Draft. Tracy is a converted receiver, and it shows up across his game for better or worse.

Apr 27 Update - New York Giants pick TE Theo Johnson in Round 4 of 2024 NFL Draft. Johnson ran the second-fastest time in the 40-yard dash among tight ends (4.57 seconds) and also was No. 2 in the broad jump (10 feet, 5 inches) and the vertical jump (39 feet, 5 inches).

Apr 26 Update - Giants select CB Andru Phillips with 70th pick in 2024 NFL Draft.

Andru Phillips won teams over with his versatility and quickly became a rising target during the draft process. The Kentucky corner may best be described as a defensive back because of that trait. He'll likely see snaps all over the formation, from boundary corner to safety.

Apr 26 Update - Giants select S Tyler Nubin with 47th pick in 2024 NFL Draft.

Grading New York Giants' pick of S Tyler Nubin in 2024 NFL Draft. The Giants turned around and grabbed a versatile asset in the secondary. Though the safety class isn't as strong as it typically has been in recent seasons, Nubin is arguably the best prospect at the position in 2024.

Apr 26 NFC East News
Recapping the NFC East after Day 1. The NFC East had a productive first night of the NFL Draft.
New York Giants Round 1, Pick 6 - WR Malik Nabers (LSU)
Philadelphia Eagles Round 1, Pick 22: CB Quinyon Mitchell (Toledo)
Dallas Cowboys Round 1, Pick 29: OT Tyler Guyton (Oklahoma)
Washington Commanders Round 1, Pick 2: QB Jayden Daniels (LSU)

Apr 25 The Giants landed Malik Nabers with the sixth pick in the NFL Draft. Ask any with even the slightest semblance of draft knowledge and they'll tell you the same thing about New York's new No. 1 receiver: He's explosive. That's a very good thing considering how awful the Giants offense was a year ago. But what Nabers is not, is a quarterback. The Giants tried desperately to trade up with the Patriots for No. 3. They couldn't get it done, with New England taking Drake Maye, believed to be the top player on the Giants board, for themselves.

Giants 'ecstatic' with Malik Nabers as No. 6 pick of NFL draft. The Giants had a need at wide receiver. Specifically, they needed a No. 1 receiver, something they had been missing since trading Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns in 2019. They signed Golden Tate in 2019 and Kenny Golladay in 2021 as free agents. Both failed miserably to fill the role in New York. Now, the hope is that the "electric" Nabers is the answer. He could be the most talented receiver Jones has ever had at his disposal.

Apr 25 Update - Giants select LSU WR Malik Nabers with No. 6 overall pick in 2024 NFL draft.

Apr 25 From last year at this time - Let the board talk to you:
Inside the Giants 42-screen draft room. To call it a "chair" wouldn't do it justice. When Joe Schoen sits down in the Giants' draft room, he assumes the captain seat of what looks like the control room of a submarine. The 1,200-square-foot space on the second floor of the two-story Quest Diagnostics Training Center has no windows. Football Ops needed every inch to fit 42 screens across three walls, each meticulously placed with a purpose and each capable of pulling up any piece of information on a prospect at the tap of a finger.

Apr 25 With the NFL Draft almost here, the NY Giants are in crunch time to decide what to do in the first round on Thursday night. Giants general manager Joe Schoen could either draft one of the top receivers at No. 6 like Malik Nabers or actively seek trade partners to move up and draft a quarterback like Drake Maye or J.J. McCarthy. While Maye would be a perfect fit in New York, Joe Schoen and the Giants' front office may need to pump the brakes on finding Daniel Jones' successor. NFL insider Dianna Russini stated it would be a "tough sell to ownership"to trade up for a franchise quarterback to replace Danny Dimes. So, John Mara might get in the way of things after all?

Apr 23 Special Report - It's only days before the Giants make their first-round selection in the 2024 NFL draft - and people are still wondering if they're going to actually take a quarterback. There have been scores of quasi reporters offering scores of mock first rounds, and many of them have included a quarterback for the Giants' first pick, and the identity of the target has been equally elusive. But now there is a statement from GM Joe Schoen, who will make that final decision, and while it doesn't actually clear things up, it offers some insight. He said would be "comfortable" with the three quarterbacks currently on the roster - Daniel Jones, Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito.

Apr 21 Daniel Jones insists he's the right QB for Giants, and why a QB controversy would be bad. The idea of a competition/controversy - two words that in this case are virtually interchangeable - was floated by Giants co-owner John Mara at the NFL owners meetings in March. "Why not let them both compete?" Mara said. There are actually a group of people who feel like that's a tremendous idea, and almost all of them work in the New York media. Almost everyone else, though, recognizes that as the seeds of a nightmare, because it would set up the most high-profile quarterback competition/controversy the Giants have had since the explosive Phil Simms-Jeff Hostetler affair back in the early 1990s.

Apr 19 Joe Schoen took a break in the action on Thursday afternoon to hold his pre-draft press conference. Schoen said their final draft board should be set by Friday evening. They will step away from it for the weekend. Schoen said he doesn't think teams are ready to move yet in the draft order, but they're listening. "We all do that.". Schoen would be "comfortable" with going into the season with the three quarterbacks they currently have.

Apr 16 Daniel Jones cleared up a few things when the Giants reported for the start of offseason workouts on Monday. He plans to be ready for the start of training camp. His neck, which cost him three games before a torn ACL ended his season completely, is 100 percent. As for the question about whether he is the best option at quarterback for the team in 2024, he believes so.

Apr 11 The New York Giants have a new defensive coordinator. During his last coaching gig, Shane Bowen led one of the better defenses in the National Football League. He takes over a defense with plenty of talent and is focused on getting the most out of the budding defensive unit. Playing aggressively is one thing, but something that arguably was missing last year from the defense former defensive coordinator Wink Martindale called was always getting guys in the right position. For example, Martindale often had outside linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux in coverage, which was not the best deployment of his talent.

Apr 7 Isaiah Simmons is quite happy he was able to re-sign with the NY Giants Short and to the point, all Simmons had to do was tweet out the Statue of Liberty to let Giants Nation know he'll be ready to make more plays for this defense moving forward. Thanks to his versatility, Simmons could line up at either safety or linebacker for new defensive coordinator Shane Bowen.

Apr 3 State of Giants' offensive line: What it looks like pre-draft. John Mara did not mince words last week at the NFL Annual Meeting. The team president was asked about the offensive line being a topic of conversation around the Giants for the past decade. "You're right it's ridiculous," Mara responded, "and it's a continuing source of frustration for me. It's time to get it fixed. We've invested in a couple of No. 1 draft picks on offensive tackles. We have a No. 2 draft pick playing at center, and now we have spent some money in free agency. We have a new offensive line coach. I expect us to be a hell of a lot better this year."

Apr 1 Breakdown of Giants' 6 picks in ESPN 7-round mock draft. Overall, the Giants only have six picks in this year's draft, with only two teams having fewer. However, with just about all of those picks coming towards the top of each round, the Giants do rank 12th in total draft capital value, which should result in them finding some immediate help.

Mar 31 It never felt like the Giants were going to keep Saquon Barkley. Last year, they reportedly offered Barkley a three-year deal in the $11 million per year range with around $22 million guaranteed, but the star running back turned it down. From that point, general manager Joe Schoen dropped subtle hints that Barkley wouldn't be re-signed in free agency.

NFC East News
Cowboys - The Dallas Cowboys and free-agent running back Ezekiel Elliott are reportedly considering a reunion this offseason. Elliott, 28, spent his first seven NFL seasons in Dallas before signing a one-year deal and playing for the New England Patriots last season.
Eagles - The league's collective reluctance to pay running backs played heavily into the Philadelphia Eagles' decision to sign Saquon Barkley to a three-year, $37.75 million contract in free agency. Why the Eagles don't think they overspent on Saquon Barkley.
Commanders - Marcus Mariota, a former No. 2 overall pick himself, wasn't beguiled about the situation he was walking into when he signed with Washington. He knows that the Commanders are likely to take one of the top quarterbacks in the draft, which would mean that he'll be the primary backup like he was with the Eagles in 2023.

Mar 30 The NFL released the dates for all 32 clubs' voluntary offseason workout programs, which are intended to provide training, teaching and physical conditioning for players. The Giants' calendar for 2024. First Day: April 15.
OTA Offseason Workouts: May 20-21, May 23, May 28-29, May 31, June 3-4, June 6-7.
Mandatory Minicamp: June 11-13.

Mar 27 All the yelling and screaming that surrounded last season has New York Giants coach Brian Daboll feeling some regret. Daboll and the Giants went 6-11 in a tumultuous year that ended with an explosive meeting between Daboll and former defensive coordinator Wink Martindale. It concluded with Martindale cursing out his former boss and the two sides eventually parting ways. "Yeah, there are times I wish I handled things a little bit differently, certainly," Daboll said of the past year. "So, you continue to grow, continue to evolve."

2024 NFL rule changes: New kickoff rules, hip-drop tackle ban, replay reviews. A massive change to kickoffs, a ban on a dangerous tackling technique and expanded use of instant replay are among the major rule changes the NFL has approved for the 2024 season. Here is the full list of rules change proposals, bylaws and resolutions that NFL clubs adopted at the NFL Annual Meeting this week.

Mar 26 John Mara remains a strong supporter of the Giants' player procurement process and those atop the team's decision-making hierarchy. But he expects better results after a season that he said, "nobody was happy with." The Giants were 6-11 in 2023, a step back after winning nine games, plus one in the playoffs, the previous season. Mara also remains a vocal advocate of quarterback Daniel Jones, who was limited to six games in 2023 because of injuries, notably a torn ACL that ended his season on Nov. 5. And when he did play, Jones was subjected to frequent pressure because of a spate of injuries on the offensive line.

Mar 25 The New York Giants decided to reshuffle their finances in 2024, boldly allowing running back Saquon Barkley and safety Xavier McKinney to walk in NFL free agency. Although this might have been the correct course of action for Big Blue, that doesn't mean departures like these won't end up thriving elsewhere. The Green Bay Packers' signing of McKinney is already getting a lot of attention around the NFL community, for example.

Mar 24 After surrendering an NFL-high 85 sacks last season, New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen's top priority this offseason was to rebuild the offensive line. Through the first two weeks of free agency, no team has acquired more quality offensive linemen than the Giants.

Mar 22 The New York Giants have had a busy start to the offseason following their lackluster 2023 campaign, which was marred by relentless injuries and poor performances. Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll have focused on retooling the most premium positions on the roster and ensuring they grow at a cheaper rate for a team with just over $40 million of cap space when it all started. Thus far, it seems to have worked out for them, but the true results won't be seen until the team takes the field next fall.

Mar 21 Special Report - What will the New York Giants running game look like without Saquon Barkley? For the first time since the 2017 season, the New York Giants will not have Barkley on the roster. The 27-year-old star running back signed a three-year, $37.75 million contract with the rival Philadelphia Eagles last week. Even though the writing was on the wall that it was unlikely Barkley would return to the Giants, many fans were furious that he decided to sign with the Eagles of all teams.
But when you take a step back and think rationally, you can't fault anyone who feels they're making the best financial decision for themselves and their family. It will be weird seeing Barkley in an Eagles uniform, but at the end of the day, the NFL is a business where players move from team to team for one reason or another. Now that the shock of losing one of the most dynamic offensive players in the team's history, Giants fans are wondering what the offense will look like without Barkley.

Mar 19 The New York Giants met with Russell Wilson last week. Then they signed Drew Lock. They have also heavily scouted all the top quarterbacks in this year's draft, and they've spoken to teams about the possibility of trading up, presumably to take one. Giants general manager Joe Schoen insisted at the NFL Scouting Combine last month that "I have faith in Daniel as our starting quarterback." But he also admitted the need to "address the position" because of the uncertain recovery timeline of Jones' recovery from his torn ACL. The Giants seem to be hedging their bets against Jones for the short term. But are they also plotting out new options for the long term?

Mar 18 The New York Giants focused heavily on retooling their offensive line over the first week of free agency, signing Jermaine Eluemunor, Jon Runyan Jr., Austin Schlottmann, and Aaron Stinnie. ESPN's Jordan Raanan reports that the Giants have reached out to Neal's team to discuss the possibility of him moving to guard. More specifically, to left guard alongside Andrew Thomas.

Mar 17 The Giants obtained Brian Burns in a trade with the Panthers, sending them a 2024 second-round draft choice (No. 39) and a 2025 fifth-round selection and agreeing to a swap of fifth rounders this year (the Giants getting No. 166 and sending No. 141 to Carolina). Burns is one of the NFL's most effective pass rushers.

Former Giants
Xavier McKinney, who signed a four-year, $67 million contract with the Green Bay Packers, met with the Packers media this past week and shared some thoughts about his time with the Giants, speaking glowingly of the franchise.

Mar 16 Just days after joining the New York Giants as a free agent, quarterback Drew Lock is clearing the air about his decision to leave Seattle and move to the East Coast. Contrary to what Seahawks general manager John Schneider expressed, Lock said the Giants did not offer the 27-year-old the chance to compete with Daniel Jones for the starting job.

Former Giants
Michael Strahan delights in Jon Runyan having to cheer for Giants. Michael Strahan became friends with Jon Runyan thanks to some matchmaking chicanery by his fierce rival's wife at the Pro Bowl in Honolulu following the 2002 season. That partnership took on a new dimension this week when standout guard Jon Runyan, Jr. signed as a free agent with the Giants.

Mar 14 The New York Giants have been fairly active during the "legal tampering" period of NFL free agency this year. The Giants have improved the offensive line...no, they just added mediocre players and missed out on the best free agent OLs. The Giants added an elite pass rusher...no, he's good but not worth the money they're paying him. The Giants let their best offensive player leave...no, he's an injury-prone back who's not as good as the best running backs in the league.

NFC East News
Biggest winners, losers from NFC East in opening days of NFL free agency. One of the biggest names on the market changed teams, but stayed inside the division. The New York Giants appeared to be the biggest losers when the market opened with a pair of high-profile losses, only to salvage their offseason with an enormous trade later in the day. Meanwhile, the Washington Commanders, of all teams, have done something really unusual for them - smart spending. While the "all in" Dallas Cowboys have, apparently, decided to sit free agency out.

Mar 13 The New York Giants have reached a one-year, guaranteed $5 million deal with former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Drew Lock. The signing helps fill the void created by the departure of free agent Tyrod Taylor, who agreed to terms with the New York Jets on Monday. Lock will join starter Daniel Jones and Tommy DeVito in the quarterback room, but the Giants could potentially address the position early in next month's draft with the No. 6 overall pick.

Mar 12 It wasn't an easy day in East Rutherford, N.J., as the Giants let two good young players walk away. But Joe Schoen knew rebuilding the Giants would require tough decisions, and the GM believes strongly in the difference in values between positions. Some players are worth big money. Others aren't.
Schoen traded for Brian Burns, a 26-year-old pass-rushing stud, on Monday and then quickly signed him to a massive five-year, $150 million contract with $87.5 million guaranteed, according to multiple NFL sources. It cost the Giants an early second-round pick (39th overall) and a fifth-rounder in this year's draft, which they sent to Carolina.

Saquon Barkley reached an agreement with the Philadelphia Eagles on a three-year, $37.75 million contract that could be worth up to $46.75 million and includes $26 million fully guaranteed at signing, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Barkley now beats the franchise tag number and has a maximum average-per-year salary of $15.833 million, which would be second highest for a running back in NFL history.

The Giants have agreed to terms with running back Devin Singletary, pending a physical. Singletary was a third-round pick (No. 74 overall) by the Buffalo Bills in 2019. After spending his first four seasons with the Bills, Singletary spent the 2023 campaign with the Houston Texans. The 5-foot-7, 203-pound running back appeared in all 17 games with 10 starts for the Texans last season. He finished with a career-high 898 rushing yards on 216 rushing attempts (4.2 yards per carry) with four touchdowns and added 30 receptions for an additional 193 yards.

Packers to sign Giants safety Xavier McKinney to four-year, $68M deal. Green Bay revitalizes its secondary with the NFL's highest-graded safety in coverage. The 24-year-old's new deal ranks as the fourth highest in average per year ($17 million) and total value ($68 million) among all NFL safety contracts. Pro Football Focus graded him as the NFL's best safety in coverage (91.2 coverage grade) as he totaled three interceptions while not allowing any passing touchdowns in 2023.

Mar 11 Giants' last-minute guide to 2024 NFL free agency. The New York Giants 2023 season didn't go as planned. After making a surprise appearance the previous year, just about everything that could have gone wrong for New York did. Quarterback Daniels Jones suffered a season-ending ACL tear, running back Saquon Barkley battled his own injury issues and the Giants regressed on both sides of the ball, fairly substantially.
The result was a disappointing 6-11 record and a lot of questions heading into 2024. The new league year, along with the official start of free agency, will kick off at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday. What should be on the Giants' agenda this week? Let's take a final look at New York's biggest needs, most notable free agents, potential targets and cap situation.

Mar 9 Giants have 'exploratory meeting' with Russell Wilson ahead of NFL free agency. On the surface, it was exploratory. Due diligence. Does Russell Wilson to the Giants make sense? Given the Giants quarterbacking situation, which - to put it mildly - is in flux, why not have a look? Incumbent starter Daniel Jones is coming off a torn ACL, and his status for the start of the season is in question. Jones' veteran backup, Tyrod Taylor, is as injury prone as Jones is and a free agent who may or may not be re-signed.

Mar 8 Tiki Barber may be the Giants all-time rushing leader, but he has a warning for Saquon Barkley ahead of free agency after rumored Eagles interest Saquon Barkley's tenure with the New York Giants may be coming to an end, but where his next destination might be has many in the area uneasy. Originally born in the Bronx, Barkley's family moved to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania - just an hour outside of Philadelphia - when the future NFL running back was just four years old. The rumors have left one of New York's greatest running back legends beside himself when thinking about that possibility.

Mar 5 Special Report - A look at the top quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft and what it would take for the Giants to draft them. After another injury-riddled and turnover-plagued season, even the most avid Daniel Jones supporter must acknowledge it's time for the Giants to move on from him. His record as a starter is now 22-36-1, and the only time he hasn't missed time due to an injury in his five-year career was in 2022.
Jones' most effective attribute is his running ability, but even that might be compromised after he tore his ACL in Week 9 against the Las Vegas Raiders. New York currently has the sixth overall pick in the draft, but also has the draft capital to move up. Here's a quick look at the top projected quarterbacks in this year's draft class, and the probability that the Giants will be able to draft them.

Mar 3 The New York Giants are releasing veteran guard Mark Glowinski after two seasons with the team. The Giants signed him to a three-year, $20 million deal to be a starting guard as they tried to rebuild their offensive line. It didn't work. The Giants' line was a liability last season, allowing a league-high 85 sacks. It was an expected move after Glowinski lost his starting job following a rough start to the 2023 season. It was hardly just Glowinski.

Mar 2 The 2023 NFL season marked Darren Waller's first with the New York Giants. And it could be his last. The Pro Bowl tight end contemplated retirement immediately following the year, according to the New York Post. Waller has not decided whether he will play in 2024 as he is currently weighing is options.

Former Giants
Nick Gates spent the first five seasons of his NFL career with the New York Giants after going undrafted in 2018. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Washington will release offensive lineman Nick Gates at the start of the new league year on March 13.

Mar 1 Put NFL analyst Chris Simms firmly in the 'build around Daniel Jones' camp when it comes to the question of what the New York Giants should do at quarterback this offseason. There has been a constant stream of chatter about the possibility the Giants are considering moving up from No. 6 to No. 3 -- provided the New England Patriots are willing to move out of that spot -- to get one of the top three quarterbacks. Simms doesn't believe the Giants, coming off a 6-11 season, are in a position to trade away the necessary draft assets to move up.

Feb 29 Brian Daboll was one of the best-performing categories for the New York Giants. He received an A- grade by the NFLPA for his performance as a head coach this past season. Considering there were grades as low as F in these categories, the Giants made out well on these report cards. New York did not have a lower than a C grade in any category.

Feb 28 Last season Joe Schoen confirmed he listened in on the play calls starting with the second Washington game but denied it had anything to do with any staff friction. Schoen addressed his involvement during the team's second game against the Commanders last season, allegedly to monitor how head coach Brian Daboll was interacting with the staff during a game when tensions can run high. Schoen confirmed that he did listen to the play-calling sequence on the headset, but not for the reasons reported.

Feb 24 The NFL Scouting Combine is next week in Indianapolis. Teams will be interviewing draft prospects, putting them through medical exams and watching them go through athletic testing all week. That, though, won't be the only business conducted. The other dirty little secret that isn't really a secret is that a lot of the groundwork for free agent deals will be laid in Indianapolis. Deals won't officially get made, but a whole lot of information about who might be willing to go where, which players teams are interested in, and what certain players are looking for will be exchanged.

Feb 18 With the new league year in the NFL opening on March 13, the New York Giants will soon need to face reality and make some tough decisions regarding free agency. With a whopping 26 free agents according to Spotrac, many of whom are expecting high-paying extensions, the Giants will undoubtedly have to burn some bridges this offseason. Here's a list of the free agents that will be hitting the open market and some early predictions on how some critical decisions will shake out come March 13.

Feb 16 The Giants have a number of key free agent decisions to make with Saquon Barkley and Xavier McKinney set to hit the open market. The same is also true of cornerback Adoree' Jackson, who recently doubled down on his desire to remain in New York on a new deal. He has served as a full-time starter during his Giants stint, racking up 23 pass deflections and a pair of interceptions along the way. Jackson earned solid PFF grades in his first two Giants campaigns, but things took a turn for the worse in 2023.

Feb 15 Head coach Brian Daboll selected former Titans defensive coordinator Shane Bowen to fill the all-important role, tasking Bowen with getting the Giants defense back to being among the top in the league in macro and micro statistical categories. Bowen was in charge of a solid defense in Tennessee, where there were areas where his defense excelled and others where there were questions about how much improvement Giants fans might expect in 2024.

Feb 13 Bobby Johnson was the Giants' offensive line coach for the past two seasons before being fired in early January. Why was he fired, you might ask? Because his offensive line was absolutely wretched. Washington's new head coach, Dan Quinn, has been assembling his coaching staff over the course of the past couple of weeks, and - for the most part - there's been a certain rationality in the way that it's come together. Johnson is a baffling hire as OL coach.

Feb 11 The New York Giants want Saquon Barkley back, but their approach toward making it happen could be different than last year's. By allowing Barkley to test the market and then bring home offers for the Giants to consider, New York is essentially allowing other teams to negotiate for them, which puts them at a disadvantage. But at the end of the day, Barkley's preference is to finish what he started with the Giants, which is to get the team back to playoff relevancy.

Feb 10 Tommy DeVito and Saquon Barkley discuss uncertain futures with the NY Giants. It's up in the air if either player will return to MetLife next season. Barkley, he has said he wants to be a Giant for life, but he and general manager Joe Schoen haven't had any luck when they've met at the negotiating table. The deadline for Schoen to use the franchise tag on Barkley is 4 p.m. ET on March 5. DeVito knows the Giants could draft a QB in April.

Feb 8 The New York Giants announced several changes to their coaching staff on Wednesday, including the promotion of offensive coordinator Mike Kafka to assistant head coach. The Giants also announced two other promotions: Quarterbacks coach Shea Tierney is being given the additional title of passing game coordinator. Defensive backs coach Jerome Henderson, who interviewed for the defensive coordinator position that was given to former Tennessee Titans' defensive coordinator, will become defensive passing game coordinator.

Feb 7 Special Report - Nearly a month after former defensive coordinator Wink Martindale exploded in a meeting, allegedly made wild accusations against head coach Brian Daboll, and threatened to resign before he and the Giants officially parted ways, the search for his replacement has ended.
Following a thorough search that included interviews with former Baltimore defensive backs coach Dennard Wilson, among others, the Giants have hired ex-Tennessee defensive coordinator Shane Bowen, who Wilson ultimately replaced after the Titans' coaching staff was purged following the firing of former head coach Mike Vrabel. It is believed that Wilson was a front-runner for the Giants' job.

Feb 6 The New York Giants hired former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Tim Kelly to be their tight ends coach. Kelly just completed his second season with the Titans and his 10th season coaching in the NFL. He was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2023 after serving as passing game coordinator in 2022. Prior to arriving in Tennessee, he spent eight seasons with the Houston Texans, including three campaigns as their offensive coordinator. In 2022, Kelly's duties included work with the Titans' tight ends, putting together the first- and second-down passing game, and helping with the offensive plan in the red zone.

Feb 5 Brian Daboll blocking Giants OC Mike Kafka from new intervew request is telling. Seattle came calling again, but Coach Dabes but his foot down. Can we put an end to the speculation that Brian Daboll doesn't get along with NY Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka? If that was the case, then Coach Dabes might have helped the soon-to-be third-year OC pack his bags to leave New Jersey.

Former Giants
Michael Strahan very nearly became a Dallas Cowboys draft pick, but thanks to the Cowboys getting cute, Strahan's NFL path changed for the better.

Feb 4 Justin Pugh came 'straight off the couch' to try and help the New York Giants' flailing offensive line in the middle of the 2023 NFL season.. Pugh's leadership was undeniable, and important, to the Giants as the season wore on. Teammates quickly gained respect for the Giants' 2013 first-round pick. That leadership would help in 2024, as well. What the Giants have to judge is the reasons for Pugh's on-field performance, and what role he might be able to play.

Feb 3 New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley wants to be a Giant for life, and the Giants would love for nothing better than to make that happen. But Barkley also wants some sort of financial security, and that's where he and the Giants have, at least up until now, varied as they try to find a middle ground that's a win-win for both parties.

Feb 2 Wide receiver Sterling Shepard, who played his final game with the team that selected him in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of the University of Oklahoma, might not be a part of the New York Giants future, but he's also not quite ready to call it quits as an active NFL player.

Feb 1 Five mistakes the Giants can't afford to make in 2024. The pressure is on for Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll to fix things this offseason. When you go from a playoff contender to looking at mock drafts before the end of October, something went severely wrong along the way, and that's where the New York Giants found themselves in 2023. The franchise made a bevy of mistakes last season, and it led to a putrid couple of months, sans the three-week Tommy DeVito love-fest.

Jan 31 Joe Schoen, Giants must stay steadfast in stance with star RB Saquon Barkley You feel for Barkley, you do. He's done everything right since the Giants selected him second overall. The poor drafting and roster mismanagement of the last regime are why his tenure in blue hasn't been more successful. It's no fault of his own. But that doesn't matter now. This isn't a charity.

Jan 30 The New York Giants traded up one slot in the 2023 NFL Draft to ensure the selection of Maryland cornerback Deonte Banks. The Giants now have an effective young player on their roster for possibly five years. However, the future of the Giants' cornerback room is not dubious, and it remains one of the many positions due for help in the 2024 offseason.

Former Giants
Phil Simms believes the New York Giants could be the wonder story of the next NFL season. Simms maintains the Giants actually had a decent year despite their offensive inefficiency and a 6-11 finish in the regular season. "I think they were a little unfortunate about three games," the CBS Sports star and The NFL Today analyst said.

Jan 28 Giants unrestricted free agents and dates to know: | Feb. 20: Beginning this date through 4:00 p.m., New York time on March 5, clubs may designate Franchise or Transition Players. | Feb. 27-March 4: NFL Scouting Combine, Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis. | March 5: Prior to 4:00 p.m., New York time, deadline for clubs to designate Franchise or Transition Players.

Jan 27 Kayvon Thibodeaux expressed his belief in Daniel Jones and the Giants front office as another draft approaches, but he was admittedly "mad" about Barkley not getting long-term security given what he has done for the organization.

Jan 26 Giants hire Michael Ghobrial as special teams coordinator. The Giants' new special teams coordinator won't need a tutorial on the unpredictable winds in MetLife Stadium. Michael Ghobrial, who spent the previous three seasons as an assistant on the Jets' staff, has been hired as the Giants' new coordinator. With the Jets, Ghobrial coached under coordinator Brant Boyer and fellow assistant Leon Washington as the team fielded one of the NFL's best special teams units.- More.

Jan 25 The offensive line wasn't good last year and hasn't been good in a while. Is it talent, coaching, or both? Since 2018, the Giants have drafted nine offensive linemen in virtually every round of the draft, Of that vast group, only one player, Andrew Thomas, has blossomed into anything close to resembling an All-Pro, and people were questioning if he'd ever admit to being anything more than a hill of beans after a dreadful rookie campaign.

Jan 24 Defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence continues to rack up accolades following his dominant 2023 campaign. Lawrence was named to the Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA) All-NFC Team for the second consecutive season. The fifth-year lineman was once again one of the most dominant interior defensive linemen in the NFL this season. He registered 4.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss, 21 quarterback hits and two passes defensed to go with his 53 total tackles (32 solo).

Jan 23 Over the last five NFL Drafts, the New York Giants spent two top-seven overall draft picks on offensive tackles to bolster their offensive line moving forward. In 2020, the Giants selected Andrew Thomas fourth overall; in 2022, they drafted Evan Neal seventh overall.
Even after spending two top draft picks on offensive linemen over the last few seasons, the Giants offensive line still allowed the most sacks of any team in the National Football League this season. It ranked near the bottom of the league in many statistical categories. Injuries were a large part of the reason for the unit's struggles.

Jan 22 Special Report - You've had time to shake it off now, wash the 2023 season away clean. You are now ready to move on, forward into the offseason and 2024. Welcome to the Great Reset. Again. We, like general manager Joe Schoen, have to remain focused and vigilant to get the Giants to a better place. Scattershot is not a strategy. But where do we begin? The draft already? Free agency? Coaching? Yes to all of the above, but with restraint.

Jan 21 After finishing last season with All-Pro honors, New York Giants offensive tackle Andrew Thomas solidified himself as one of the better tackles in the National Football League. This season, however, Thomas missed a career-high seven games with injuries, the worst of which was a strained hamstring suffered in the team's Week 1 blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Even when he was healthy enough to return, Thomas didn't look quite the same, though Thomas at 50 or 60 percent is probably better than most at or near 100 percent.

Jan 20 The New York Giants have a problem that's beginning to boil over, and their attempts to control the narrative have failed. After months of denying that tension exists inside 1925 Giants Drive, it's now apparent that the environment, as some staffers have suggested, has become toxic. Offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, who has reportedly faced the brunt of Daboll's eruptions, is unhappy. And even if he doesn't land any of the head coaching jobs he's interviewed for, Raanan expects him to take his leave from East Rutherford as well.

Former Giants
Antonio Pierce will be an inspirational story to every interim head coach for the foreseeable future. The Las Vegas Raiders have officially named him the full-time head coach. If you get a chance to coach an NFL team for part of a season, you have a shot to impress, and Pierce certainly did. The Raiders responded to him, and a strong half-season as interim coach has led Pierce to get the job on a permanent basis.

Jan 19 The New York Giants haven't been able to build a stable offensive line over the past decade. It's not for a lack of trying. They have dipped continuously into the draft (a league-high five top-100 picks in the past four drafts), dabbled at the top of free agency and even tried to develop talent internally. Nothing has worked. Coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen hired Carmen Bricillo from the Las Vegas Raiders last week as the seventh offensive line coach in the past 12 years for the Giants.

Jan 18 New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen spent much of last offseason trying to add playmakers at the wide receiver spot. He landed Jalin Hyatt in the draft and Parris Campbell in free agency, to mixed results. Let's review the performance of the wide receiver position in 2023, and look ahead to what the position could look like in 2024. The roster Darius Slayton, Wan'Dale Robinson, Jalin Hyatt, Isaiah Hodgins, Sterling Shepard, Parris Campbell.

Jan 17 The Giants are selecting sixth in the upcoming draft. Picking so high and hitting on the selection can be a franchise-altering event. Truly special players can go a long way in changing the trajectory of a team, even if that player is not a quarterback.

Former Giants
Odell Beckham Jr. believes the New York Giants were trying to sabotage his career by shipping him to the Cleveland Browns in 2019 ... revealing he felt his old team made the trade just to "f*** me over."

Jan 16 Giants' Brian Daboll has 'no composure,' assistants warned to stay away. In the aftermath of defensive coordinator Wink Martindale "parting ways" with the New York Giants, several reports have surfaced suggesting that head coach Brian Daboll is erratic and irrational, and regularly dressed down his assistants in a personal fashion.

Jan 15 The Wink Martindale era as defensive coordinator of the New York Giants seems to have reached its end. Instead of diving into all of the conjecture surrounding his departure, this seemed like a good time to reflect on his tenure with the team and his effect on the defense. A look at what worked in former defensive coordinator Wink Martindale's scheme, and what would a new defensive coordinator need to change.

Jan 14 The New York Giants had a disappointing 2023-24 NFL season. With a record of 6-11, they came up well short of the playoffs after reaching the divisional round the year prior. There was speculation that there was tension inside the locker room this season. Now, a new report reveals that there was even more tension than we originally thought. Xavier McKinney reportedly threatened to not re-sign.

Jan 13 The NY Giants and defensive coordinator Wink Martindale parted ways this week after tensions between head coach Brian Daboll and him boiled over. Martindale exploded on Daboll following the firing of his most trusted assistants, Drew and Kevin Wilkins, leading the veteran defensive coordinator to head home to Florida. But the issues between Martindale and Daboll began long before that fiery exchange. In fact, they started to butt heads during their very first training camp together in 2022.

Jan 12 Giants hire former Raiders offensive line coach Carmen Bricill. Bricillo is a 20-year coaching veteran, including five in the NFL. Like Daboll, he has ties to Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots. Bricillo was the O-line coach of the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022-23 and the Patriots the two seasons prior to that. Only 11 teams allowed fewer sacks in 2023 than the Raiders' 40 in 2023.

Jan 11 It is now official that the New York Giants and Don "wink" Martindale have reached an agreement to mutually part ways, so the top defensive coordinator will have a job somewhere else next season. The Giants held out hope that would be able to to make things work with the defensive coordinator but now it has officially been reported that they have agreed to part ways. The coach is now free to head elsewhere and he should get many opportunities as there are a plethora of open coaching jobs and more are coming.

Jan 10 The 2023 season is over for the New York Giants, and it is already time to start speculation on what this roster will look like when the team opens the season in 2024. There are 26 unrestricted free agents on the roster currently, and if the Giants want to see more success next season, a good number need to return. They have big decisions to make with some big names and some names that may not jump off the page.

Jan 9 Special Report - No rest for the weary, I guess. Not 24 hours after the Giants' stunning win over Philadelphia on Sunday evening, change has come to East Rutherford. After the team and media gathered at the team facilities Monday morning for a wrap-up press conference, general manager Joe Schoen announced that Special Teams Coordinator Thomas McGaughey, offensive line coach Bobby Williams, outside linebackers coach Drew Wilkins and his brother, defensive assistant Kevin Wilkins, had been let go.
And just a few hours later, several reports came out that Defensive Coordinator Wink Martindale would resign. It is thought that the Wilkins brothers, who both coached under Martindale in Baltimore, were let go after the team was aware that Martindale would step down. You asked for change, you got it. Earlier in the day, Daboll told the media that he expected both Martindale and Offensive Coordinator Mike Kafka to return in response to a question about further changes.

On Sunday the Philadelphia Eagles held a 21-6 lead at the half in their game with the Arizona Cardinals. They didn't score again until the fourth quarter, while the Cardinals added 29 points to hand the Eagles a 35-31 loss.
The Giants had opportunities to win in their game at home last week against the Los Angeles Rams. They also made mistakes that overrode their efforts, and took a 26-25 loss.

Jan 6 Dexter Lawrence has joined a small and very select group of Giants defensive linemen. The fifth-year pro was named the Giants' only 2023 Pro Bowler. He is the first Giants defensive lineman to receive the honor in consecutive seasons since end Jason Pierre-Paul in 2011-12, and the team's first interior lineman to be selected to multiple Pro Bowls since tackle Arnie Weinmeister went to four in a row from 1950-53. Lawrence is the first Giants player selected to successive Pro Bowls since safety Landon Collins from 2016-18.

Jan 5 It's the final week of the regular season, which means there are more than a few players who could be suiting up in a New York Giants uniform for the final time. There will be no playoffs this year. Instead, this week's finale for the Giants (5-11) is a Week 18 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles at MetLife Stadium. Not quite the same as the divisional-round matchup the two teams had last January.

Jan 4 Saquon Barkley, Giants about to begin contract dance again. A second straight offseason of wondering if Barkley and the Giants will reach a long-term deal, if the Giants will let him head to free agency or if they will try to franchise tag him again is about to begin. Barkley, who has always said and continues to say he would like to spend his entire career with the Giants, knows Sunday's game at MetLife Stadium could be his last one as part of the home team.

Jan 3 Dane Belton again demonstrated that he's a ball magnet, intercepting two Stafford passes and recovering a fumble by Demarcus Robinson. His second pick set up Mason Crosby's 32-yard field goal that lifted the Giants to within 20-19 early in the fourth quarter.
Belton is one of five players with a team-leading two interceptions. He also has 23 defensive tackles (13 solo) and four special teams tackles. In two seasons, Belton has four interceptions and three fumble recoveries. How does the ball keep finding him?

Jan 2 Six New Year's resolutions for the New York Giants. Things the Giants must take care of this off-season to turn their season around. Ahead lies a fresh start for general manager Joe Schoen, head coach Brian Daboll, and the rest of the organization, starting with their being in the top five of the NFL draft order (barring anything screwy from happening) to having a healthy amount of financial assets with which to work in adding talent to a team that was strong in some areas but weak in others.

Game 16 Preview - Giants (5-10) Rams (8-7)
The Los Angeles Rams had a 30-7 fourth quarter lead in their Thursday night game with the New Orleans Saints. The Rams had to hang tough when the Saints added two scores, and they won the game with a 30-22 score.
On Christmas day the Giants were mostly stagnant in the first half of their game in Philadelphia. Trailing 20-3 to the Eagles, they made a quarterback change. The Giants scored three touchdowns after that, but it wasn't enough to avoid a 33-25 loss.
