Dec 31 The Giants got back in the win column when they defeated the Colts, 45-33, at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. The win brings the Giants to 3-13 as they head into the season finale against the 13-3 Eagles in Philadelphia. It was a record-setting day for numerous Giants, as the team put together the franchise's best offensive performance in years. Five things we learned in the Week 17 win.

Game 16 Preview - Giants (2-13) - Colts (7-8)
Last Sunday the Indianapolis Colts held a 38-7 lead over the Tennessee Titans midway through the third quarter. The Titans came up with three touchdowns after that, but it wasn't enough and they finished with a 38-30 loss to the Colts.
On Sunday looked to be a good sign that the Giants scored first in their game with the Atlanta Falcons. After that, they failed to score again, and took a 34-7 loss to the Falcons.

Dec 28 The New York Giants 2024 season is almost at a close and they'll host the Indianapolis Colts for their final home game of the season. The Giants are coming into the game 0-8 at home and are categorically the worst team in the NFL. But even so, they have something to play for as they try to avoid being the first team in the 17-game era to be 0-9 at home. The Colts, meanwhile, are 7-8 on the year and still have some hope of making the post season.

Dec 27 While this season was supposed to be historic for the New York Giants-marking the franchise's 100th season and surpassing 10 wins, a franchise record-the team is on the verge of making some embarrassing history that neither the fans nor owner John Mara are thrilled about.

Dec 26 If the New York Giants aspire to become a powerhouse football team like they were for most of the Tom Coughlin era, it's important that they focus on one area in particular to make that happen: the trenches. Such is the opinion of ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky, who told Kevin Clark that the Giants' shift away from building up the offensive and defensive lines has not helped the team break free from the doldrums since they last won a Super Bowl in 2011.

Dec 25 The Giants are holding a rare Tuesday practice before their Sunday game against the Colts. Head coach Brian Daboll said that quarterback Drew Lock, who underwent an MRI on his throwing shoulder Monday, is on track to play Sunday when the Giants host the Indianapolis Colts in the regular season finale.

Dec 24 For the final time during the 2024 season, the Giants will take the field at MetLife Stadium Sunday as they face off against the Indianapolis Colts. The Giants will wrap up their season with a divisional matchup against the Eagles next week in Philadelphia. Five storylines to follow in Week 17.

Game 15 Preview - Giants (2-12) - Falcons (7-7)
The Atlanta Falcons broke their four game losing steak with a 15-9 win over the LA Raiders on Monday night. In the last ten seconds the Raiders had two chances to steal a win with a touchdown pass, but that didn't happen.
Last Sunday the Giants continued their losing streak with a one sided 35-14 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. It was their ninth loss in a row, and their eighth in front of the MetLife fans

Dec 21 Heading into Week 16, the Giants intend to turn back to Drew Lock as the team's starting quarterback, head coach Brian Daboll announced to the media prior to Wednesday's practice. Lock missed last week's game due to heel and left elbow injuries, but Daboll believes the veteran quarterback "should be okay" for Sunday's game in Atlanta.

Former Giants
Daniel Jones is no longer with the New York Giants, but that didn't stop him from getting in the Christmas spirit with his former teammates. Jones, currently a member of the Minnesota Vikings' practice squad, sent all the offensive lineman that were on the Giants with him a limited-edition bottle of Clase Azul tequila for Christmas.

Dec 20 Giants defensive coordinator Shane Bowen was beginning to construct his gameplan in his office Tuesday evening when he received a text from line coach Andre Patterson with news that led to the team's first audible of the week. Rookie Michael Penix, Jr. was replacing 13-year veteran Kirk Cousins as the Atlanta Falcons' starting quarterback for the teams' game Sunday in Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The two quarterbacks couldn't be more different.

Dec 19 Special Report - If there is one "credo" that one could formulate to encapsulate this disastrous 2024 NFL season for the New York Giants, it would be: "What CAN go wrong, WILL go wrong." If it means the team has to lose its best All-Pro offensive left tackle (Andrew Thomas) for the season with a foot injury, then down he goes and onto the IR list.
If it means the team has to lose the best defensive tackle playing in the NFL in Dexter Lawrence for the season, he dislocates his elbow and is lost for the entire year. If Brian Daboll "gambles" a bit by only carrying one kicker (Graham Gano) who is a bit banged up, the other team busts a huge kickoff return on the very first play, and Gano tears his hamstring trying to chase down the runner in a game the Giants lose by only three points, leaving nine points on the field -- if only they had a kicker.

Dec 18 The Falcons announced on Tuesday night that rookie Michael Penix, Jr., the team's round draft pick, will get the start ahead of Kirk Cousins against the Giants. The Giants are struggling, and their defense is banged up, so what better team to let Penix cut his teeth against than a wounded Giants team against whom he might end up being just a little fired up to face, considering the Giants passed over him in the draft after spending so much time getting to know him before the draft?

Dec 17 Making the case for the New York Giants moving on from Joe Schoen, Brian Daboll. Whatever path the Giants choose is filled with risks. The Giants haven't been competitive against most of the good teams they have played, and haven't been able to beat the bad ones. There are reasons on the field, the injured list, the stands and even in the skies why it seems increasingly difficult for Giants ownership - even with a stated desire for patience and continuity - to allow Brian Daboll to remain on the Giants' sideline beyond the end of this season.

Game 14 Preview - Giants (2-11) - Ravens (8-5)
The Ravens were on a bye week coming off a loss at home to the Philadelphia Eagles. In that game the Ravens started off with a 9-0 lead, but the Eagles defense kicked in and the Ravens took a 24-19 loss.
On Sunday the Giants lost their game to the New Orleans Saints. The Giants closed the gap near the end, but a tying field goal which would have put them into overtime was blocked, giving them a 14-11 loss.

Dec 14 Tommy DeVito will be the starting quarterback for the second time this season on Sunday, when the Giants host an 8-5 Baltimore Ravens team that showcases what is arguably the NFL's best offense and is currently the fifth seed in the AFC playoff race. The depleted, 2-11 Giants have lost eight consecutive games and hope to overcome a spate of injuries to celebrate their first victory in more than two months. DeVito, who started against Tampa Bay three weeks ago, is not thinking in terms of ending a string of losses but starting a winning streak.

Dec 13 Topping the list on New York Giants' priorities on Sunday will be Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, and as 16-point underdogs, there are no shortage of concerns for Week 15. But next to Jackson in the backfield will be running back Derrick Henry, who might be the most feared weapon in the league.

Dec 12 Tommy DeVito will start at quarterback Sunday for the New York Giants when they face the Baltimore Ravens. Head coach Brian Daboll told reporters on Wednesday that Drew Lock, who started the last two games, is in a walking boot with a heel injury. Daboll indicated he was uncertain Lock, who won't practice on Wednesday, would be well enough to serve as the backup quarterback on Sunday vs. the Baltimore Ravens. If not, Tim Boyle would have to be elevated from the practice squad to serve as QB2.

Dec 11 Brian Daboll doubled down on a move that has fans scratching their heads yet again: he confirmed Drew Lock as the starter for Sunday's matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, provided Lock is healthy enough to play. Starting Drew Lock against the Ravens seems less about winning and more about minimizing chaos, but even that goal feels out of reach. Lock's performances so far have shown no evidence he's the answer for the Giants, short-term or long-term.

Dec 10 Life gets no easier for the Giants as they head into the final four games of their 2024 season. Their last four opponents are Baltimore and Indianapolis at home, and Atlanta and Philadelphia on the road. Those four teams are a combined 31-21, a .596 winning percentage that ties them with San Francisco, Seattle and Detroit for the league's fifth-most difficult remaining schedule.

Dec 9 Giants lose to the Saints 14-11
On the Game - Game 13

New Orleans Saints 14 - New York Giants 11

Game 13 Preview - Giants (2-10) - Saints (4-8)
Last Sunday the new Orleans Saints held the Los Angeles Rams scoreless in the first half. It was tied up in the fourth quarter and the Rams added one more touchdown to give them a 21-14 win over the Saints.
The Giants lost their Thanksgiving Day match with the Dallas Cowboys. The Giants played their best in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late, and they took a 27-20 loss.

Dec 7 Where can the Giants take advantage of the New Orleans Saints? With the way New Orleans has defended the run, every opponent is troubling in this area. Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary haven't had great years, but both are talented enough to make plays against an underachieving Saints defense.

Dec 6 Special Report - As the Giants stumble towards the merciful end of this season, heads coach Brian Daboll will not have his recent starting quarterback, Tommy DeVito. His sore right forearm is sore enough so that he cannot play Sunday against New Orleans, which gives the job to Drew Lock, the guy Daboll thought so much of that he promoted DeVito from No. 3 to starter when Daniel Jones was released, jumping him over Lock, who had been the backup all season.
But there is a qualifier to this bit of news. If DeVito is comfortable enough, says Daboll, he will serve as Lock's backup. If not, that job will go to Tim Boyle, who was signed just a week ago after a journeyman's career in Green Bay, Detroit, Chicago, the Jets and Miami. He was signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Packers in 2018 after a split college career at Connecticut and Eastern Kentucky.

Dec 5 At least the quarterbacks are healthy. Well, mostly. It's never good when the first few minutes of an NFL coach's news conference is dominated by injury news. While listing the group of players who missed practice, and later detailing their injuries, Daboll announced Drew Lock will be the starting quarterback when the Giants face the New Orleans Saints Sunday in MetLife Stadium. Lock started the Giants' Thanksgiving Day loss in Dallas because Tommy DeVito had suffered a forearm injury four days earlier against Tampa Bay. DeVito has improved, was limited in practice, and could be the No. 2 quarterback vs. the Saints.

Dec 4 As Saquon Barkley and Xavier McKinney find success on the NFC contenders, the New York Giants are left wondering why it didn't work in East Rutherford. The story of the New York Giants' year has been an utter lack of success while last season's stars find success in their new homes. It feels like everybody that escapes from the confines of MetLife Stadium is better for it, which bodes well for quarterback Daniel Jones.

Dec 3 Dexter Lawrence, Theo Johnson go to IR; Giants sign DL Cory Durden from Rams practice squad. The inevitable became official when the Giants placed Dexter Lawrence on injured reserve. Though he is eligible to return after four games, the move certainly ends the season of the team's best defensive player, who suffered a dislocated left elbow in the Giants' Thanksgiving Day loss in Dallas. The Giants also placed rookie tight end Theo Johnson on injured reserve with a foot injury he suffered in Dallas.

Dec 2 With the New York Giants being the first team to be eliminated from playoff contention this year, the mistakes made by the tandem of general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll have been piling up, especially as former players have gone on to thrive with other teams such as running back Saquon Barkley (Eagles), defensive lineman Leonard Williams (Seahawks), guard Kevin Zeitler (Lions) and safety Julian Love (Seahawks).

Dec 1 The Giants initially wanted Daniel Jones to stay home, with pay. The player has to be willing to do it; he can't be locked out. Teams cannot keep a player from showing up for work for non-disciplinary reasons. When he decided not to stay home, the Giants altered his workout program. He wasn't going to be throwing at practice. Business considerations prevented Jones from doing anything to help the team. No real practice (other than scout-team, walk-through safety), no throwing, limited lifting.

Nov 30 In addition to enduring another defeat on Thursday, the Giants suffered a spate of injuries, that will almost certainly require roster reinforcements for the final five games. First among the wounded is Dexter Lawrence, the Giants' best player, who suffered a dislocated left elbow. Rakeem Nunez-Roches joined Lawrence in the locker room in the second half after suffering a stinger. D.J. Davidson hurt his shoulder in the second quarter and left the game after playing only 10 snaps. The injuries were not limited to the defense. Rookie tight end Theo Johnson hurt his foot in the game and Brian Daboll said, "This one's probably going to be a long term one as well."

Game 12 Preview - Giants (2-9) - Cowboys (4-7)
The Cowboys were able to pull off a win on Sunday against Washington. The Commanders scored a touchdown in the last seconds, but missed on an extra point that would have tied things up. The Cowboys ended up with a 34-26 win as the game closed out.
The Giants couldn't hold their own against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They got off to a poor start, and it stayed that way throughout the game. The final score was 30-7 in favor of Tampa Bay.

Former Giants
Daniel Jones has chosen his new NFL home. Minnesota's quarterback of the future appears to be first-round pick J.J. McCarthy, who is out for the year with a knee injury, while Sam Darnold is a pending free agent who has made some money for himself with a career year. Jones will be with the Vikings for just six regular-season games and however long Minny's playoff run lasts before he is again a free agent with the opportunity to sign with any team he likes.

Nov 27 Neither Tommy DeVito nor Brian Daboll could say definitively today that the quarterback will be healthy enough to start the Giants' Thanksgiving Day game in Dallas. The second-year quarterback was added to the injury report with a right (throwing) forearm injury and would have been limited had the Giants had a full-scale workout instead of a walk-through. Backup Drew Lock took some first-team reps in case he must start against the Cowboys.

Nov 26 Brian Daboll was the Giants' voice and face of calm and purpose today after his players reacted with a torrent of emotions following yesterday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Several members of both the offense and defense vented their exasperations in the postgame locker room. Daboll said the team played with good effort and was not "soft," as some players claimed after the 30-7 defeat, the Giants' sixth consecutive loss.

Game 11 Preview - Giants (2-8) - Tampa Bay (4-6)
Before their bye week, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced off against the San Francisco 49ers. It was a close game, with the 49ers missing on three of their field goal attempts. On the last play of the game San Francisco got it right, a 44-yard field goal gave them a 23-20 win over the Buccaneers.
The Giants were also on a bye after hosting the Carolina Panthers. The Giants trailed up until the last play, a field goal to tie up the game. The Giants had the ball first in overtime, and a first play fumble led to a 20-17 win by the Panthers.

Nov 23 After six years with the Giants, one day of practice spent as the scout-team safety and one heartfelt farewell statement, Daniel Jones is leaving New York. The Giants are granting Jones' request to be released Friday, the team announced. Judging by the tone of Jones' statement delivered after Thursday's practice, the next logical step was for him and the Giants to part ways.

Nov 22 Daniel Jones 'grateful' for opportunity as Giants starting QB in first comments since benching. With the dust beginning to settle on the New York Giants' change at quarterback, Daniel Jones, now relegated to third-string backup duty after nearly six seasons at the helm, spoke to the media Thursday for the first time since his demotion this week. The former No. 6 overall pick began his availability with a classy, heartfelt statement which prefaced his thoughts on the matter.

Nov 21 Tommy Cutlets the celebrity just wants to be Tommy DeVito the quarterback. When he debuted as an NFL player in 2023, DeVito received as much publicity for his Italian heritage, love of chicken and local roots as he did for his playing ability. DeVito's life story sometimes obscured his accomplishments on the field, where he became the first Giants rookie quarterback to win three consecutive games since Phil Simms in 1979 and earned an NFC Offensive Player of the Week award.

Nov 20 Five winners and five losers from the New York Giants' benching of Daniel Jones. It's finally happened. We now know that Daniel Jones will not be a New York Giant in the 2025 season. Of course, that won't be official until they release him, but it's a pretty safe assumption. In the aftermath, who are the winners and losers in the fallout from Monday's announcement?

Nov 19 Giants look for 'spark' with QB switch to Tommy DeVito. The quarterback who led the Giants to their only sustained success of the last two seasons is returning to the starting lineup. Coach Brian Daboll announced late Monday morning that second-year pro Tommy DeVito will replace Daniel Jones as the Giants' starter, beginning Sunday at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 2-8 Giants have lost five consecutive games and are averaging an NFL-low 15.6 points-per-game.

Nov 18 Three reasons to be optimistic about Giants' second half. Things haven't gone well for the New York Giants, but with the rookie class performing as well as it has, there are still reasons to tune in every Sunday.

Nov 17 What do execs, analysts think of New York Giants GM Joe Schoen? It looks like the Giants hit on a really good 2024 draft class. The 2022 and 2023 classes, not so much? Here are some inside perspectives on Schoen's three-year body of work.

Nov 16 NFL Insider says Giants might not be done with Daniel Jones as starter. The other train of thought behind possibly sticking with Jones is to see if the team, despite its 2-8 record, has not been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs and makes any sort of late-season push. That, of course, could be asking a lot of a team that has struggled badly this season, but it's a possibility that can't be ruled out.

Nov 15 Theo Johnson entered the 2024 NFL Draft as a standout tight end from Penn State, drawing attention from the New York Giants and other teams for his exceptional athleticism and versatility. Known for his rare blend of size and speed at 6-foot-6 and 259 pounds, Johnson was touted as a high-upside prospect who could eventually bring dynamic playmaking to an NFL offense. Yet despite his impressive college background and clear athletic upside, Johnson has been underutilized in the Giants' offensive scheme.

Former Giants
Saquon Barkley brought ridicule and criticism to his former team the Giants, during unreal night against Commanders.

Nov 14 It seems like a football lifetime ago when Daniel Jones was thought to have taken a big step forward by emerging as a capable dual-threat quarterback. A five-year New York Giants playoff drought ended in 2022 and a wild-card game was won against the Minnesota Vikings. That 2022 season has turned out to be fool's gold for the Giants and Jones. The Giants rode the momentum of a surprising 6-1 start to the season, in which all of the wins were one-score games, to a 9-7-1 record. Jones regressed in 2023 before he was lost for the season in Week 9 with a torn ACL in his right knee.

Nov 13 Joe Schoen is unhappy with where the Giants are standing, but he is confident in where they're going. Schoen, the Giants' third-year general manager, expressed his disappointment in the Giants' 2-8 record several times during his annual bye-week news conference. But he also stressed that most games have been close, the team has numerous talented young players, and he believes the program he and coach Brian Daboll are building will be successful.

Nov 12 New York Giants likely to bench Daniel Jones for Drew Lock after Week 11 bye. The Giants head into their Week 11 bye at 2-8, last in the NFC East. They have some soul-searching to do, and it seems likely the first move is to bench starting quarterback Daniel Jones.

On Sunday the Carolina Panthers won their second game of the season. It was a close come from behind 23-22 win over the New Orleans Saints.
The Giants lost their last game to the Washington Commanders 27-22. The Commanders scored first, and never gave up the lead. The Giants scored a field goal and two touchdowns in the second half, but it wasn't enough.

Nov 9 The Panthers are coming off of a win, trampling the New Orleans Saints, and might have another upset in them if quarterback Bryce Young continues to look better than he had earlier in the year. What has to go right for New York to return stateside with a victory?

Nov 8 The Giants will look to break a four-game losing streak on a continent where they are undefeated. For the fourth time in franchise history and second time in three seasons, the Giants will play a regular-season game in Europe. The previous three all took place in London and resulted in victories, including a trip in Brian Daboll's inaugural 2022 season as head coach. This time, they will face the Panthers at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.

Nov 7 Why the Panthers extended running back Chuba Hubbard's contract. In the athletic training room before dawn, getting his body ready. As in, on the field three hours before kickoff every game day, catching balls from the Jugs machine in those lonely moments when he's the only player on the field. As in, an hour after every practice, going through his normal routine with his partner Tommy Tremble long after everyone else is eating lunch. As in, leaving in the dark again after putting in more than a shift. In short, Chuba Hubbard works the way they want them all to work.

Nov 6 Special Report - It's time for some difficult questions, even if they don't have immediate answers. And it's also time - perhaps long past time - for the powers that (should) be to start to make major changes. Is it GM Joe Schoen's fault for allowing running back Saquon Barkley to skip off to the Eagles? He negotiated (or refused to negotiate) the contract that Barkley wanted so badly, and at the moment he is threatening to become the NFC's Offensive Player of the Year.
He has gained 925 yards thus far, trailing only Baltimore's Derrick Henry (1,052), but the Ravens have played one more game. And the NFL is making him a film clip hero, or didn't you see the back-flip that he engineered against Jacksonville? Everybody else did. And isn't head coach Brian Daboll at fault for continuing to start quarterback Daniel Jones? He's acceptable at times, but prone to ridiculous errors that wind up costing games.

Nov 5 Panthers head coach Dave Canales wasn't ready to name a starting quarterback for the Giants game. As Andy Dalton continues to improve from a sprained thumb and Bryce Young is coming off a win against the Saints, the Panthers are in a more enviable position than they were the previous two times quarterback changes were made this season. As to not naming much less announcing a starter on Monday, Canales admitted some of it is gamesmanship, and some of it is simply not having an answer yet.

Nov 5 Giants' defensive leaders send blunt message after latest loss to Commander. Brian Burns didn't hold back, calling for team maturity and an end to self-inflicted errors that continue to define their 2-7 season. While the Giants came close to a comeback against Washington, mounting a late rally, their mistakes were still glaring. Missed tackles, blown coverages, and questionable decisions in critical moments left fans wondering if this team can learn from its mistakes.

Last Sunday the Commanders held the lead in their game with the Chicago Bears up until the last minute. Behind 3 points, on the last play of the game, Jayden Daniels threw a Hail Mary pass for a touchdown and an 18-15 win.
The Giants kept their game close with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and it was tied at halftime. The Giants kept their game close with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and it was tied at halftime. The Steelers outscored the Giants after that leaving them with a 26-18 loss.

Nov 2 The Giants, who lost their game in Washington largely because they had no kicker, today declared Greg Joseph out of the rematch against the Commanders on Sunday with an abdominal injury. The news was revealed in the Giants post-practice injury report.

Nov 1 Facing a quick turnaround, the Giants will look to snap their three-game losing streak when they take on the Commanders at MetLife Stadium. The Giants went to Pittsburgh for a matchup against the Steelers on Monday Night Football this past week. Despite some flashes on both sides of the ball, the Giants wound up falling to the AFC North opponent, 26-18. Here are five players to watch in the Week 9 divisional matchup.

Oct 31 Quarterback Daniel Jones has been benched already this season, he isn't playing his best football and the New York Giants are in last place in the NFC East. He's "frustrated" with how this season has gone. The results are going to need to come soon for Jones. His status as the Giants' starter already feels shaky considering the team tried to trade up in the draft for his replacement earlier this year and he was sent to the bench in the fourth quarter of a blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles two weeks ago.

Oct 30 The Commanders look to sweep the season series against their NFC East rivals for the first time since 2021. Once upon a time, the New York Giants used to have the Washington Commanders' number. Some might argue that it's still true, given that the Giants were just a healthy kicker away from beating the Commanders in their Week 2 game at Northwest Stadium.

Last Sunday the Pittsburgh Steelers were trailing at the end of the half in their game with the Jets. The Steelers kept them off the board the rest of the game, and finished with a 37-15 win.
The Giants were no match for the Philadelphia Eagles in their game at MetLife Stadium. The home fans were disappointed to see them take a 28-3 loss.

Oct 27 Ten things to watch on Monday Night Football. While the offense's struggles can be credited to several areas, two in particular have stood out - the unit's lack of explosive plays and their struggles on third down. In Week 6, the Giants' longest play of the game was 15 yards. The following week, their longest play went for just 14 yards. It's difficult to win games without the threat of big play, and it's even harder when struggling to sustain drives.

Oct 26 Things haven't exactly lined up very well for the Giants, whose offense has struggled for most of the season. They unofficially have 20 drops (second-most in the NFL) and must head into a very hostile environment to take on the defensive-oriented Steelers. Do they have to rely on their defense to keep them in the game once again?

Oct 25 This week, New York Giants co-owner John Mara committed to general manager Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll despite their second 2-5 start in as many years. Most new general managers and coaches concentrate on beating the teams they need to beat to win their division. In the Giants' case that would be the NFC East rivals: Dallas, Philadelphia, and Washington. Since Schoen and Daboll took over the Giants are 0-5 against Dallas, 1-5 (including playoffs) versus Philly, and 3-1-1 against Washington but lost their first game versus them this season with Jayden Daniels under center and Dan Quinn as the head coach.

Oct 24 John Mara expressed dissatisfaction about the Giants' early season record Wednesday night but said he remains strongly supportive of general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll. "Obviously, we're all very disappointed with where we are right now," Mara said. "But I'm going to say one thing, we are not making any changes this season, and I do not anticipate making any changes in the offseason, either." The Giants are 2-5 as they prepare to face the Steelers on Monday night in Pittsburgh. That start has led to media speculation about the job security of Schoen and Daboll, who are in their third season in their present positions.

Oct 23 New York Giants lost star left tackle Andrew Thomas to a foot injury during their Week 6 loss against the Cincinnati Bengals. New York gave Josh Ezeudu the first opportunity at left tackle rather than putting former seventh-overall pick Evan Neal in the lineup. Ezeudu started five games in 2023 for the Giants at left tackle before suffering his own foot injury that sidelined him for the season. Ezeudu has an insufficient track record at tackle. Initially drafted as a guard, he had some solid snaps inside as a rookie, but the Giants appreciate his foot quickness and versatility. They are giving him another opportunity at tackle, which was rough against the Eagles.

Oct 22 Brian Daboll reaffirmed his commitment to Daniel Jones as the Giants' starting quarterback but was not as committed to keeping Josh Ezeudu at left tackle. Those were the most significant personnel questions Daboll addressed Monday in his virtual news conference, one day after a difficult 28-3 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in MetLife Stadium.

The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off a close win over the Cleveland Browns. The game was tied at 13-13 in the fourth quarter, and the Eagles pulled away to finish up with a 20-16 win over the Browns.
The Giants were coming off a nice win over the Seattle Seahawks, and the Cincinnati Bengals were next. They weren't able to keep it going, and the Bengals took them for a 17-7 loss.

Oct 19 A look at the officiating crew assigned to Giants-Eagles week 7 game. Here's everything you need to know about the officiating crew assigned to the Giants' Week 7 game.

Oct 18 Ex-Vikings Starter Signs with Giants. Back in 2021, Armon Watts started for the Minnesota Vikings. Now, the veteran defensive tackle will try the New York Giants' practice squad on for size. And somewhat ironically for Vikings fans, the Giants released former Vikings cornerback Duke Shelley to make room for Watts.

Oct 17 Brian Daboll announced that Andrew Thomas - the Giants' five-year left tackle, three-time captain, and 2022 second-team All-Pro - will miss the remainder of the 2024 season because of a Lisfranc injury he suffered Sunday night. He was hurt in the fourth quarter of the team's 17-7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Though he finished the game, Thomas was clearly in pain. He underwent surgery and was placed on injured reserve, leaving the Giants a roster spot to fill.

Oct 16 Giants' Andrew Thomas expected to undergo season-ending surgery. Thomas is considering all his options, but he may have no other choice than to spend the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign in recovery. The devastating setback would severely hamper the offense and possibly put inconsistent quarterback Daniel Jones under great duress.

Oct 15 Special Report - There are all kinds of ways to lose a game, and last night the Giants apparently found all of them. They out-played the Cincinnati Bengals in most categories yet somehow came out on the wrong end of a 17-7 score, reducing their record to 2-4 for the season. There were all sorts of mysterious events, including head coach Brian Daboll's sudden attraction to fourth down plays, learning that while they may work occasionally, continuing to visit that trap will ultimately lead to chaos.
He tried four last night - the first three were successful, the fourth led to the end of the game. Then there was placekicker Greg Joseph, who was signed to replace the injured Graham Gano. It sure looked like a good move, since he was riding a streak of eight field goals in a row until last night, when he missed the only two he tried, from 45 and 47 yards away. Daboll, who is becoming an expert at answering questions without revealing an answer, shared this general feeling during the post-game press conference.

Game 6 Preview - Giants (2-3) - Cincinnati (1-4)
The Cincinnati Bengals were coming off two games where they had scored more than 30 points in each of them. In their game last week against the Baltimore Ravens they topped that number. Cincinnati still ended up losing to the Ravens 41-38.
The Giants are coming off a surprising win over the Seattle Seahawks. They were able to overcome a sack fumble returned for a touch down on their first offensive play of the game. The Giants then held the Seahawks to their lowest points scored on the year and left Seattle with a 29-20 win.

Oct 12 The New York Giants face off against the Cincinnati Bengals at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, and despite the Giants having a better record, they are still the underdogs in this game. Brian Daboll is desperate to turn this team around lest he find himself without a job at the end of the season. This week, there are six things the Giants must do to secure a victory.

Oct 11 How one tweak helped Giants DL Dexter Lawrence counter double-team blocks. IDL Dexter Lawrence II has seen even more double-team blocks this season than ever before. Ranked as Pro Football Focus's third-best overall interior defensive lineman and third in total pressures among his position group (23), Lawrence is by far the Giants' best player on defense, and it's not even close.

Oct 10 Isaiah Simmons played only 11 snaps for the Giants Sunday in Seattle but needed just one to earn the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week award. Simmons secured the Giants' 29-20 victory against the Seahawks in Lumen Field when he blocked Jason Myers 47-yard field goal attempt that would have tied the game if good. Wide receiver Bryce Ford-Wheaton caught the batted ball on the bounce and returned it 60 yards for the clinching touchdown with 55 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.

Oct 9 What's next for RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. after breakout game? Tracy became the fourth Giants rookie to have 125 rushing yards in a game in the Super Bowl era. He joined Saquon Barkley, who did it four times, Andre Williams and Ahmad Bradshaw. It leaves Daboll and the Giants with the task of trying to find more carries for him when Devin Singletary does return.

Oct 8 Special Report - There is no word yet, but the Giants are continuing their search for the imposters who crashed into their locker room at halftime yesterday, put on various players' uniforms and took the team to an impressive 29-20 victory over Seattle. There was this guy who impersonated quarterback Daniel Jones at his best, completing 23 of 34 passes for 257 yards, a pair of touchdowns and a 109.6 QB rating.
And who was that guy who put on rookie running back Tyrone Tracy's uniform and rushed for 129 yards in just 18 carries? Oh, that really was Tracy? And that couldn't have been Darius Slayton, the veteran wide receiver, since the guy filling in for him caught eight passes for 122 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, was that really reserve linebacker Isaiah Simmons, who jumped about nine feet in the air to block a 47-yard field goal try that would have tied the game in the final 1:05? Nah, another pretender, that's who it was.

Game 5 Preview - Giants (1-3) - Seahawks (3-1)
The Seahawks had a Monday night matchup with the Detroit Lions who were favored to win. In a high scoring game, Detroit did just that, winning over Seattle 42-29.
The Giants have taken a lot of losses in recent years to the Dallas Cowboys. Their last game on a Thursday night was no exception, and they were on the losing end of a 20-15 score.

Oct 5 Malik Nabers is out, and Devin Singletary is doubtful, leaving the Giants most likely without their leading receiver and rusher for their game Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks in Lumen Field. Giants coach Brian Daboll announced today that Nabers, the NFL's receptions leader, will not travel with the team tomorrow and will miss the game against the 3-1 Seahawks.
To fuel the Giants' aerial attack, quarterback Daniel Jones - who has thrown just eight of his 144 passes without Nabers on the field - will look to the team's other receivers, including Wan'Dale Robinson, Darius Slayton and Jalin Hyatt, who is expected to see his first extensive action.

Oct 4 With Malik Nabers out of the lineup,Wan'Dale Robinson's workload is sure to increase in Week 5. He is second on the team in targets, receptions, and receiving yards this season and has picked up 10 first downs. Darius Slayton and Jalin Hyatt might also see an increase in their workloads this weekend, however, neither player has been playing at a very high level this season.

Oct 3 The Giants began preparations for their game Sunday in Seattle without their leading rusher and leading receiver. Running back Devin Singletary has a groin injury he sustained in the Giants' 20-15 loss last week to Dallas and sensational rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers remains in the NFL concussion protocol after he was hurt in the waning moments of that game.
Cornerbacks Adoree' Jackson and rookie Dru Phillips, who did not play against the Cowboys because each has a groin injury, also did not practice. Their availability for the game Sunday in Seattle likely will not be decided until later in the week. Brian Daboll said the Giants must consider Malik Nabers may not play.

Oct 2 The New York Giants are one month into the 2024 season and are sitting with a 1-3 record and in last place in the NFC East, leading many to believe it'll be another long season in store. Despite this, one of the few bright spots on the team has been their 2024 rookie class. General manager Joe Schoen has taken some flak for his previous first two drafts with the Giants, but many already believe the 2024 draftees are the best out of the three classes.

Oct 1 Will the Giants trade Darius Slayton or Jalin Hyatt to the Chiefs? Would it even make sense? The Giants absolutely should be pursuing opportunities to add draft capital. They're already down their fifth-round pick and need to think hard about the opportunity to add young talent if Slayton or Hyatt aren't in their long-term plans. On the flip side of that, however, is that the Giants have practical reasons to keep both receivers.

Sept 30 It is fair to say that the Giants could be 3-1 if just a couple of things had happened differently against the Washington Commanders Week 2 or the Cowboys in Week 4. The Giants had clear opportunities to win both games and it feels like they should, at the least, be 2-2. But, they aren't. They are 1-3. As Bill Parcells used to say ... ah, if you're a Giants fan you know what Parcells used to say about a team's record.

Burns currently has one sack and three quarterback hits to go along with ten total tackles (two tackles for loss) and three pass breakups. Beyond the visible stats, Burns's first season as a Giant has been a mixed bag.

Sept 28 Giants on wrong end of strange calls in loss to Cowboys. The Giants were victimized by two strange officiating decisions Thursday during the first half of a 20-15 loss to the Cowboys. Replays showed that when Bellinger and DeMarvion Overshown were tangled up as Bellinger blocked for Daniel Jones to run, it was Overshown who grabbed a fist full of facemask and not the other way around.

Game 4 Preview - Giants (1-2) - Cowboys (1-2)
The Cowboys were down 28-6 in their game with the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth quarter. They scored a touchdown with less than nine minutes left and then added two more. It was too little to late and they took a 28-25 loss.
The Giants were off to a poor start in their game with the Cleveland Browns. Eleven seconds in they lost their first possession and were down 7-0. They managed to take a 21-7 lead after the half, and finished the game with a 21-15 win.

Sept 25 Daniel Jones has always handled himself like a true professional through his Giants tenure, never pointing fingers regardless of how tough of a situation he had been put in. It is refreshing to see him have a true No. 1 receiver to work with, after years of inconsistent play at the position.

Sept 24 Special Report - It was the first Monday morning of the season when Giants' head coach Brian Daboll was able to wake up with a victory, courtesy of yesterday's 21-15 success over the Cleveland Browns. But there is precious little time to celebrate, since Thursday night the guys from Dallas roll in, and it has been a while since both teams on the field had 1-2 records. It's a question of enjoy it, but not for long.
This Thursday night game begins a five-game streak that involves opponents like Dallas, Seattle, Cincinnati, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Obviously, it wasn't a Giant fan who drew up this season's schedule. But yesterday, Daboll chose to look on the bright side - and that now translates into Malik Nabers.

Game 3 Preview - Giants (0-2) - Cleveland (1-1)
The Cleveland Browns held the lead in their entire game with the Jacksonville Jaguars. They were up 18-13, and hung tough when the Jaguars had the ball with less than a minute and a half left. The Jaguars got down to the Browns 33-yard line when the clock ended their drive.
The Giants scored more points than they did in their season opener, but it wasn't enough. A combination of losing their kicker early on and their inability to get the Commanders off the field did them in. The Giants ended up losing to Washington 21-18.

Sept 22 The New York Giants offense displayed much-needed improvement in Week 2 against the Washington Commanders, and right at the heart of that improvement was the unit's offensive line. The offensive line's run blocking improved tremendously from Week 1 to 2, but it's their pass blocking that has opened eyes. Allowing Jones ample time in the pocket to get the ball to his playmakers gave a glimpse into what the Giants offense could look like going forward.

Sept 21 Jalin Hyatt was out of the locker room and stadium quickly without a shower after logging just 15 total snaps, and just four through the first three quarters of the Week 1 contest. The second-year receiver then played just 11 snaps in a 21-18 Week 2 loss to the Washington Commanders. He's had one target, a drop in the fourth quarter of the opener. It was a high throw and required a leaping grab, but one that Hyatt concedes he should have made. Bottom line: No catches and one target in two games this season.

Second-year wide receiver Jalin Hyatt has denied asking the New York Giants to trade him if they were not going to use him. Speaking Friday after the team's final practice for Sunday's game in Cleveland, Hyatt said he was surprised by an ESPN report that discussed his lack of playing time in the first two games, and included a multi-sourced report that said during a practice late this summer he said that if the Giants weren't going to use him, they should trade him.

Sept 20 The Cleveland Browns are a team with high expectations, but a question at quarterback that could hold them back in 2024. On offense, it's still a struggle with Deshaun Watson, because you never quite feel like the offense is fully functional. It'll be interesting to see how things look whenever Nick Chubb returns, and also when the team's two starting offensive tackles return.

Sept 19 The Giants have been focused on making corrections to their game and although no one is happy about the 0-2 start, they understand that they are still in the NFC East race and that if they can clean up the issues that have held them back, they can be competitive in the division.

Manning, who ranks top 10 in career passing yards, completions and touchdown passes, is joined by seven other Giants legends on this year's ballot: running back Tiki Barber, tight end Jeremy Shockey, guard Chris Snee, defensive end Justin Tuck, linebacker Jessie Armstead, and punters Jeff Feagles and Sean Landeta.

Sept 18 The New York Giants signed kicker Greg Joseph off the Detroit Lions' practice squad Tuesday and placed veteran Graham Gano on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. Gano's injury was a big factor in the Giants' 21-18 loss at Washington on Sunday. Punter Jamie Gillan missed an extra point after the first of New York's three touchdowns, and the Giants unsuccessfully went for 2 on their next two touchdowns.

Gamegirl... "Everyone, the coaches, the players, and all the fans were hoping to see the Giants shake off their poor season opening game..."

Sept 15 In the 2022 NFL Draft, the Giants drafted Kayvon Thibodeaux with the fifth overall pick out of Oregon. This past offseason, the team traded for Brian Burns and then signed him to a five year, $141 million contract extension. But if the Giants were expecting fireworks out of the gate from the pass rushers-and it's fair to say they were-they got duds instead, as Burns and Thibodeaux combined for just two pressures against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1

Sept 14 Game 2 Preview - Giants (0-1) - Washington (0-1)
Washington lost its first game of the season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 37-20. Two missed field goals by the Commanders were followed by the Bucs scoring touchdowns on the following drives.
The Giants also lost their season opener to the Minnesota Vikings 28-6. They scored the first points of the game with a field goal, but after that scored only once more with another field goal.

Sept 13 Daniel Jones is looking to be more decisive, have cleaner footwork in Week 2 vs. the Commanders. While Jones completed 22-of-42 passes for 186 yards and two interceptions, his afternoon was plagued by delayed reads that ultimately forced him to miss open targets, hold on to the ball for too long, and try to extend the play out of the pocket. Jones has stressed trust, decisiveness, and footwork as the avenues to get him back on track.

Sept 12 The New York Giants will hit the road for their first away game of the season when they travel to take on the Washington Commanders this Sunday. The NFC East rivals are looking to rebound from their respective Week 1 losses. The Giants fell to the Minnesota Vikings, 28-6, at MetLife Stadium while the Commanders went down to Tampa Bay and lost to the Buccaneers, 37-20. The Giants won each of the two meetings between the division rivals last year, and enter this week's game with a 3-0-1 record against the Commanders over the last two seasons.

Sept 11 Brian Daboll is going to need to pull everything out of his bag of tricks because even though it was only one loss, it was that bad. It's going to be a challenge keeping this locker room together if things continue to go south. The disappointment on Sunday was palpable. This wasn't just a team that had lost one game early in a promising season. It was a group teetering on the edge of falling into a lot more losses.

Sept 8 Game 1 Preview - Giants (0-0) - Vikings (0-0)
The Vikings finished third in the NFC North last season with a 7-10 record. The last time they finished first in their division was 2022. The Vikings then lost their Wild Card Playoff game to the Giants 31-24.
The Giants finished third in the NFC East with a 6-11 record. The last time the Giants won their division title was in 2011. The Giants went on to win Super Bowl XLVI.

Sept 7 Will the Giants beat the Minnesota Vikings and add to a festive atmosphere, or wreck it by opening the season with a loss at home? The Giants enter the season optimistic that they will field a better product than the 2023 team that went 6-11 after a horrid 2-8 start. The Giants added wide receiver Malik Nabers with the sixth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. They - again - revamped their offensive line. They traded for star pass rusher Brian Burns.

Former Giants
Saquon Barkley is a superstar as Birds win season-opening game in Brazil. The player of the night is Saquon Barkley, who, in his Eagles debut, totaled three touchdowns and looked like the legitimate superstar he was at times during his Giants tenure.

Sept 6 It wasn't a very exciting 2023 season for the New York Giants. The Giants were one of the worst teams in the league, landing them the sixth overall pick in April's draft. There's an urgency to win more games this season, but there are a few key areas the Giants need to improve in to call the 2024 season an improvement upon the last.

Sept 4 Brian Daboll confirmed that he will call the offensive plays this season, beginning Sunday when the Giants host the Minnesota Vikings. Daboll had called the plays throughout the spring, training camp, and the Giants' three preseason games, but had not specifically said he would continue to do so in the regular season. Offensive coordinator/assistant head coach Mike Kafka held the play-calling duties for most of the previous two seasons. Daboll declined to say why he made the change. He called plays for nine years as a coordinator in the NFL and at the University of Alabama.

Sept 3 The Giants' secondary still faces a major problem despite Adoree' Jackson signing. Jackson is expected to eventually take over the CB2 position alongside Deonte Banks, but the Giants' secondary still faces significant hurdles. With Jackson rejoining the mix and adapting to a new defense under coordinator Shane Bowen, it will certainly take him a few weeks to find his footing, especially after missing the entire summer, including training camp and preseason.

Sept 2 The New York Giants begin their 100th anniversary of founding this season, a year-long celebration that began back in the spring and was meticulously planned down to every detail. The upcoming season is a big one for the Giants, a turning point, if you will. They must get off to a fast start to build some momentum and confidence if they're to rebound from last year's 6-11 debacle. The Giants will practice Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Sept 1 Daniel Jones needs to play better than he did a year ago but needs the team to be better to keep his job, and believes he sees an improved team. Coming off a torn ACL just nine months ago, Jones has been able to work every day without limitations. He has moved well and without hesitation. What matters with Jones is what we see beginning Sept. 8 against the Minnesota Vikings. Can Jones take advantage of what should be the improved weaponry around him? Can he step up in an offense that is now quarterback-centric and not running back-centric?

Aug 31 Adoree' Jackson returns to the New York Giants on a one-year deal to provide depth at a thin position group. In three seasons with the Giants, Jackson appeared in 37 games with 36 starts and had 176 tackles, two interceptions, and 23 pass breakups. Jackson also dealt with injury issues last season. In Weeks 7 and 8, he had a neck issue. Then, in Weeks 10 and 11, he missed time with a concussion. Those injuries definitely contributed to a drop-off in his performance.

Aug 30 Isaiah Hodgins, a former 6th-round pick out of Oregon State, didn't get a real opportunity to showcase his abilities until 2022, when the Giants acquired him from Buffalo. That year, he recorded 46 receptions with an 82.1% catch rate, totaling 500 yards and five touchdowns.
With the selection of Malik Nabers as the 6th overall pick, the Giants filled out their receiver room with Darius Slayton, Wan'Dale Robinson, and Jalin Hyatt. As a result, both Hodgins and Allen Robinson were released. Fortunately for the Giants, Hodgins will remain available as a potential asset on the practice squad.

Aug 29 Malik Nabers to wear No. 1 Giants jersey; uniform had been retired for Ray Flaherty. Flaherty played from 1927 to 1935 for the New York Yankees/Giants and was a three-time All-Pro selection. He also won an NFL title during the 1934 season. Flaherty's No. 1 was the first number to be retired in pro football history.

Aug 28 Giants announce initial 53-man roster for 2024. Three wide receivers, three tight ends, and three of their former draft choices were among the departees as the Giants unveiled their initial 53-man roster for the 2024 regular season. Those released included wide receivers Isaiah Hodgins, Allen Robinson, and Miles Boykin; tight ends Lawrence Cager, Jack Stoll, and Jakob Johnson (who also plays fullback); running back Dante Miller; offensive linemen Jimmy Morrissey, Joshua Miles, Jalen Mayfield, and Marcellus Johnson:.. more.

The New York Giants have set their initial 53-man roster, with coach Brian Daboll admitting that things are "fluid" and there are still decisions to be made. The one thing we know is that the roster as of 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday will not be the same as the one the Giants open the season with on Sept. 8 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Aug 27 The Giants will practice Tuesday through Thursday this week before taking three days off on Labor Day Weekend. On a Zoom call with reporters, Daboll again said, "this is still a training camp week for us coming up these next few days." Daboll also expounded on what the Giants players can expect in the coming week. The Giants coaching staff will also continue their preparation for the Vikings.

Aug 26 Special Report - The Giants began preparing for the league-imposed cutdown date of Tuesday, when all teams must reach no more than 53 players on the active roster. They got a bit of a head start yesterday, the day after absorbing their second preseason defeat, this one to the Jets, 10-6. HC Brian Daboll, who seemed strangely unperturbed with the defeat, announced that 10 players have already been waived.
They are DT Kyler Baugh, CB Breon Borders, CB Christian Holmes, safety Clayton Isbell, WR John Jiles, RB Joshua Kelley, LB Trey Kiser, RB Lorenzo Lingard, OT Marcus McKethan and WR Ayir Asante. "That's what we did this morning," Daboll said, "and obviously there are more to come, but we're not at that point. We're still discussing a lot of things, but those were 10 players that we moved on from. We thank them for their contributions and wish them well."

Aug 24 It's a make-or-break season for quarterback Daniel Jones. Jones is presumably playing for his job after the team finished last season 6-11 while he dealt with two substantial injuries (neck and a season-ending torn ACL). What's more, the franchise attempted to trade up for a QB in the 2024 NFL Draft. New York could save roughly $20 million in cap space after this season if it were to cut ties with the 27-year-old Jones. Wide receiver Darius Slayton chimed in to support his teammate, saying "it's easy to say negative things once there's a negative narrative around a person" and just because there's a narrative of Jones that "doesn't make it true."

Aug 23 The Giants took the field Thursday for their final practice ahead of Saturday's preseason finale against the New York Jets. The two teams met in Florham Park on Wednesday for a joint practice, which saw the Giants' starters match up against the Jets starters in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills. Defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence and quarterback Tommy DeVito spoke to the media after Thursday's practice.

Aug 22 NFL coaches and players routinely tout the benefits of facing unfamiliar opponents in joint practices, but perhaps the most significant takeaway for the Giants after a two-hour workout with the Jets was the importance of eliminating mistakes. Offensively, the Giants dropped too many passes. Defensively, their secondary gave up several long completions, most notably a perfectly thrown touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers to Garrett Wilson.

Aug 21 Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has yet to satisfactorily answer many questions among Giants fans about whether he is indeed the guy who can take the team to the promised land. It's easy to point a finger at the Giants' offensive line, which was historically bad in 2023 to the tune of allowing 85 sacks, the second-most in league history. However, Jones, in 80 dropbacks when he was under pressure, was directly responsible for 20 percent of those pressures, the highest percentage of the three quarterbacks on last year's roster (Tyrod Taylor and Tommy DeVito).

Aug 20 Because Saturday's 28-10 New York Giants loss got off to such a bad start for quarterback Daniel Jones, many watching the game may not have realized what was actually going on: The first step in mad scientist Brian Daboll's experiment to try to turn Jones into a different type of quarterback from the one we have gotten used to over the past few years. The thing is, many people have forgotten who Jones originally was, and even more don't remember what the quarterback he is always compared (unfavorably) to was.

Aug 19 Takeaways from starters' first extensive action. The whole point of preseason is to see if there's anything a team is doing that might carry over to the regular season. The most significant was the team's pass protection. While we are only two preseason games in, the early results show that the investment is paying off.

Aug 17 For the most part, the first preseason game for the New York Giants was resounding success. Areas of concern, most notably the offensive line and secondary, played well. The Giants out-played a Detroit Lions team with Super Bowl aspirations. However, that was back-ups against back-ups. This week the Giants will play their starters against starters, while facing another team that many think who could seriously challenge in the extremely competitive AFC.

Aug 16 Texans will play starters against Giants in preseason home opener. For those traveling to NRG Stadium on Saturday for the Houston Texans preseason opener, you'll be graced with the same treatment as the Pittsburgh Steelers last Friday. Texans coach DeMeco Ryans confirmed that the starters on both sides will play against the New York Giants. Several starters - including Kenyon Green and Juice Scruggs - played deep into the second quarter last week during Houston's 20-12 win over Pittsburgh.

Aug 15 The Giants, who have the day off from training camp, hosted another workout session for street free agents on Wednesday, a group that included safeties Jonathan Sutherland and Raheem Layne, both of whom signed contracts with the Giants. Layne initially signed with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent after the 2022 draft out of Indiana.

A rare intradivision trade has occurred between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. New York is sending reserve defensive tackle Jordan Phillips, along with a seventh-round pick in 2026, to Dallas in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick. Phillips, who is entering his 10th NFL season, was a second-round draft pick by the Miami Dolphins in 2015. The Kansas native was in his first training camp with the Giants after spending the previous two years with the Buffalo Bills.

Aug 14 It appears Giants rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. has avoided a severe injury after he had to be carted off the field during Tuesday's practice. Tracy, the team's fifth-round draft pick out of Purdue, had his right ankle fitted with an air cast and was sent to the Hospital for Special Surgery in Paramus to undergo further testing. But he was back at the team's practice facility and attending meetings later in the afternoon. Tracy is competing with Eric Gray for the second and third running back spots behind Devin Singletary.

Aug 13 The Giants were back on the field for their first padded practice since their preseason victory against the Detroit Lions. The weather was perfect with temperatures in the low 80s and bright sunny skies. Practice started with 1-on-1s between the offensive and defensive lines and receivers and defensive backs. Andrew Thomas was dominant at left tackle, winning or at worst fighting to a draw on every rep. On one play, an edge rusher tried to beat him to the outside, but Thomas rode him away from the quarterback and tossed him to the ground.

Aug 12 Daniel Jones is expected to make his return to game action next week. New York Giants coach Brian Daboll told reporters Sunday that Jones, who hasn't played in an NFL game since suffering a torn ACL last November, is slated to start at quarterback for Big Blue's second preseason game against the Houston Texans on Saturday.

Aug 11 Special Report - Don't look now, but the Giants might need another quarterback immediately, and that could elevate fan favorite Tommy DeVito to the backup role behind Daniel Jones. And as we have learned over the last few years, Jones isn't a guarantee of either playing well or staying healthy.
In the opening preseason game of the summer last Thursday night, a game the Giants won, 14-3 over Detroit, the starter for the evening, the newly-acquired Drew Lock, left the game in the second quarter with what has been diagnosed as a hip bone contusion and strained oblique. In layman's terms, that means he can't walk well, certainly can't run at full speed, might have trouble dropping back after taking the snap and, in all likelihood, shouldn't play for a while.

Aug 10 Tommy DeVito reveals NFL preseason mindset. They say fame changes a man, but what happens to the man who experiences said fame and then fades back into obscurity? While many athletes get dealt these exact set of circumstances, few are tasked with handling this drastic status fluctuation in the biggest sports market in the country. In Thursday's preseason matchup against the Detroit Lions, the spotlight was back on the underdog.

Aug 8 Game Preview: Brian Daboll returns as play-caller in preseason opener vs. Lions. He called thousands of plays in his nine seasons as an NFL and collegiate offensive coordinator. But now he will do it while also fulfilling his head coaching responsibilities, including roster construction, practice and game planning, frequent meetings, game management, talking to the local and national media, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. Daboll will debut in his new role Thursday night when the Giants host the Detroit Lions in their preseason opener in MetLife Stadium.

Aug 7 The New York Giants completed their second day of joint practices with the Detroit Lions in training camp on Tuesday at Quest Diagnostics Training Center. Two scares happened in practice, albeit they were quelled quickly. After wide receiver Malik Nabers secured a 7-on-7 touchdown, the defensive back came down on his shoulder. He shook it off and briefly went to the sideline, but was out there a few minutes later in team period.

Aug 6 Finally, it feels like football season. In other words, the New York Giants were involved in multiple fights at training camp. Less than an hour into the session, the Giants' defense and Lions' offense engaged in a massive brawl that spilled over to the Giants' side of the field in full view of the fans.

Aug 5 Giants head coach Brian Daboll addresses injuries and previews joint practices with the Detroit Lions August 5 and 6. These sessions are highly anticipated, providing a valuable opportunity for the Giants to test themselves against a different opponent. Daboll expressed his eagerness for the joint practices, highlighting the benefits of facing another team, emphasizing his respect for Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell and their shared approach to maintaining high practice standards.

Aug 4 Statistically speaking, no one is going to confuse New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the latter perhaps the best in the game today. But ask Jones is he's among the best quarterbacks in the league, and he doesn't hesitate with his response. "Absolutely."

Aug 3 Dexter Lawrence might well be the NFL's best defensive lineman. A first-round draft choice in 2019, he has been a Pro Bowler and a second-team all-pro in each of the last two seasons. Last year, he signed a multi-year, multi-million-dollar contract befitting a player of his stature. But that all means nothing to Lawrence when he is on the field, whether in practice or during a game. He is the player every other Giants lineman wants to line up next to.

Aug 2 New York Giants co-owner John Mara said he doesn't have any regrets about signing quarterback Daniel Jones last year, even if the team flirted with finding his potential replacement this offseason. The Giants seriously inquired about moving into the top three of the draft with their eye on a quarterback, particularly Drake Maye if the New England Patriots were willing to make a trade. But the price proved too steep. Instead, the Giants stuck with Jones and drafted LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers with the sixth overall pick to give him a weapon on offense.

Aug 1 The New York Giants are trying to find the right combination for their offensive line for the 2024 season. The New York Giants' offensive line was one of, if not the worst, in the NFL in 2023. In the offseason, the team stressed adding new life to the room with veteran free agents like Jon Runyan Jr. and Jermaine Eluemunor, and even signing Greg Van Roten earlier this week.

Jul 31 The New York Giants appearance on 'Hard Knocks' is now over, with the fifth and final episode having aired Tuesday night. We know how the draft played out. After being unable to trade up for quarterback Drake Maye, the Giants selected Nabers at No. 6. Tuesday's episode revealed that the Giants had two offers to trade down while they were on the clock. The Indianapolis Colts offers picks 15, 46 and a 2025 second-rounder.

Jul 30 Giants ramp up physicality with full pads. Matthew Adams was so excited to put on pads for the first time this summer he was in full uniform two hours before the Giants' 10 a.m. practice began. The most notable feature today in the Giants' fifth training camp practice was the players wore full pads for the first time. It's a significant marker to most players in any camp, but no one seemed as enthused as Adams. So, significantly, did quarterback Daniel Jones, who threw wearing shoulder pads for the first time since Nov. 5 when he tore his ACL in Las Vegas, an injury that cost him the remainder of the season.

Jul 29 Tommy DeVito has defied the odds once with NY Giants. Can North Jersey's QB do it again? Tommy DeVito knows the deal, so you don't need to remind him. He stared down the NFL odds as an undrafted rookie last season and, for all intents and purposes, defied them. A year later, DeVito is well aware that the deck is yet again stacked against him. From fans to the players -- heck, the entire organization -- the Giants embraced DeVito's story last season.

Jul 28 Darius Slayton is in position to play a sixth season with the Giants in 2024, but this offseason has included questions about his future. The veteran receiver stayed away from New York during the spring as part of an effort to land a new deal. No extension talks took place, but in the end the sides reached a compromise. The 27-year-old has led the team in receiving during four of his five seasons, but recent draft additions - particularly Malik Nabers - threaten to cut into his role on the Giants' offense moving forward.

Offensive lineman Justin Pugh, the New York Giants' first-round draft pick in 2013, rejoined the team straight off the couch last season following five seasons in Arizona and currently remains unsigned. But Pugh, who started the remaining 12 games for the Giants last year at left guard, is keeping the door open on another NFL season and is open to another season with the team that drafted him.

Jul 27 From first 3 days of Giants training camp, let's take a very early look at who's stock might be rising and who's stock might be falling. Daniel Jones -- The quarterback has been inconsistent over three practices, missing some throws he should be able to make. The fact is, though, he is practicing. In full. Running around with no limitations. All of that just eight months after surgery for a torn ACL. That's a win, even if the results have not been perfect.

Jul 26 The Giants were back on the field Thursday for their second practice of training camp. Team drills primarily took place in the red zone Thursday, which resulted in plenty of action on both sides of the ball. Heading into training camp, one of the matchups many of us have been most excited to see was cornerback Deonte Banks against wide receiver Malik Nabers. We're only two days into training camp, and we've already seen some great plays by both young players while going up against each other.

Jul 25 The Giants' offense reportedly "couldn't push the ball down the field" during first training camp practice. Things did not get off to the best start during the first practice of training camp, however. The Giants' offense reportedly struggled to push the ball downfield and settled for check-downs throughout the day as they powered through a rainy Wednesday morning practice.

Jul 18 Special Report - Acting with the speed and confidence of a seasoned veteran, Giants' general manager Joe Schoen drew contract negotiations to a halt when he told running back Saquon Barkley that the team would not - or could not - accept the financial and contractual terms he and his agent demanded. So on March 13, 2024, Barkley signed a three-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles.
So now Saquon is with the Eagles, speaking about the Giants and their fans in a thoroughly unfriendly fashion, and he is primed for one of those magical seasons that make a team's offense sparkle and makes things infinitely easier for the quarterback the wide receivers and even the offensive line. And the Giants? Well, they're coping.

Jul 17 The moment the New York Giants selected LSU standout receiver Malik Nabers with the 6th overall pick, their offense took a promising turn. Despite losing Saquon Barkley to the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency, the Giants were in dire need of boosting their passing game, and Nabers is expected to make a significant impact.

Jul 15 The New York Giants' wide receiver unit underwent a small but effective change over the offseason. Last season, the group was solid, ranking 25th according to Pro Football Focus, but it lacked a true number one option. That all changed when the Giants drafted Malik Nabers with the No.6 overall pick in April's draft. Nabers is expected to immediately become the focal point of the offense.

Jul 12 In the second episode of Hard Knocks, members of the front office and coaching staff didn't believe Daboll could beat wide receiver Xavier Worthy in the 40-yard dash if the head coach started at the 20-yard line. After Worthy set a combine record in 4.21 seconds, this is not surprising. Brian Daboll swears he can run a 7.0 40-yard dash.

Jul 9 Jon Runyan Jr. should help solidify Giants' offensive line. Runyan was team's biggest offseason addition to beleaguered line. Entering the 2022 offseason, New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen understood fully that improving a porous offensive line was a priority. Schoen's biggest personnel play in trying to do so was to sign former Green Bay Packers guard Jon Runyan Jr. to a three-year, $30 million contract in free agency.

Jul 8 Can Devin Singletary carry the Giants' running game as they begin life after Saquon Barkley? The Giants brought in Devin Singletary, who began his NFL career in Buffalo while Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll were employed there, to lead the committee. Singletary has done well in his career, having logged a solid success rate (48.8 percent) of picking up at least 40 percent of the yardage required on first down, 60 percent on second down, and 100 percent on third and fourth downs.

Jul 4 Hard Knocks revealed why Giants let Saquon Barkley go in NFL free agency. The Giants chose to provide support for Daniel Jones instead of paying Saquon Barkley. New York selected Barkley with the second overall pick in 2018 and went through quite the song and dance with him once they finally got down to contractual negotiations. Barkley played on the franchise tag in 2023 so the time for a serious decision arrived this offseason and the Giants watched him walk in free agency to a division rival in the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jul 3 The inaugural episode "Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants" has arrived! Big Blue, entering its 100th season, is featured in the first-ever edition of this new version of the hit HBO show that for a long stretch would only cover a team during training camp leading up to the regular season. Now, we get a behind-the-scenes look following the Giants directly after the conclusion of a 6-11 season as they prepare for a make-or-break 2024 campaign with QB Daniel Jones, who played in only six games last season.

Jul 2 Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO through July 30 and is available to stream on Max. .Hard Knocks offers behind-the-scenes look at Giants' trade for Brian Burns from Panthers.

Jul 1 How well has Joe Schoen handled the Giants' finances? General manager Joe Schoen has now had most of three off-seasons to develop the Giants' roster. In a little more than two months, we will begin to see how good or poor a job he has done. At this time in 2022, the Giants' roster looked barely better than the one that had finished the 2021 season, because Schoen had inherited a $40M hole to dig out of. That team reached the Divisional Round of the playoffs. A year later, the Giants had added major pieces in free agency, trade, and the draft, to build on the 2022 progress, yet that team laid an egg. Is this year's team better than last year's?

Jun 30 This summer, all eyes will be on Giants' third-year right tackle Evan Neal, the seventh overall draft pick who was supposed to give the Giants the other bookend to Andrew Thomas at offensive tackle for the next decade. So far, it hasn't quite worked out that way. Neal has been victimized in part by injuries, and there have been questions about his inconsistency when he has played. The truth is that a lineman can block well on 40 snaps, but if he gives up a sack and a couple of pressures, his performance is considered a failure.

Jun 28 Kayvon Thibodeaux hopes Giants make statement of 'resiliency' to kick off season against Vikings. As New York gears up for its 100th year following a 6-11 showing in 2023, many Giants, including Daniel Jones and head coach Brian Daboll, will feel the walls against their backs as they look to prove the postseason trip two years prior more closely resembles what Big Blue is capable of accomplishing. Thibodeaux, who's coming off a campaign in which he led the team with 11.5 sacks, knows such a success would be made easier by coming out of the gates with gusto.

Jun 27 We thought all of the offseason drama between NY Giants head coach Brian Daboll and his former staff members were dead and buried. Reports came in regarding major issues between Daboll and his assistants, most notably former defensive coordinator Wink Martindale. However, the beef wasn't limited there, with other coaches who were either fired or took jobs elsewhere didn't like working for the Giants head man.

Jun 22 Giants celebrate 100th anniversary by naming greatest play in franchise history. Big Blue's best play is also one of the greatest in NFL history. There were a lot of memorable plays in the first 99 years of New York Giants football. But one play stands out from the rest. In celebration of their 100th anniversary, the Giants have named David Tyree's "helmet catch" in Super Bowl XLII as the greatest play in team history.

Jun 21 Can Giants quarterback Daniel Jones finally silence his critics by having a performance on par, if not better than the one he delivered in 2022? That's one of the biggest questions the team and its fan base are hoping for, especially after the Giants passed on the opportunity to add a quarterback in this year's draft.

Jun 19 The Giants have signed former United Football League running back Jacob Saylors. Saylors spent the 2024 UFL season with the St. Louis Battlehawks. The 5-foot-10, 199-pound back recorded 94 rush attempts for 461 yards (4.9 avg.) and five touchdowns along with 23 receptions for an additional 152 yards and three scores. The 24-year-old earned All-UFL honors as he led all running backs in rushing yards and was tied for the second-most rushing touchdowns.

Jun 17 Malik Nabers contorted his body in the air in the corner of the end zone to make a leaping touchdown grab over Cor'Dale Flott during a minicamp practice. It was the finishing touch on an afternoon that was dominated by the rookie receiver. There is little doubt that Nabers made his presence felt in his first few months with the Giants this spring. He immediately became a fixture on the first-team offense in practices while being featured in multiple spots all over the field. It's as if the team has already decided Nabers is its No. 1 receiver with tight end Darren Waller officially retired.

Jun 16 John Michael Schmitz aims to take a big jump in year 2. Schmitz is coming off an inconsistent rookie season that included four missed games due to injury. Schmitz is the first to acknowledge that his rookie season wasn't nearly as good as it could have been and that he's been doing something about that this off-season to ensure that his second NFL season is significantly better.

Jun 15 The Giants biggest lingering issues entering training camp, including Daniel Jones, Evan Neal, more. The Giants just finished spring practices. So they're now off for about six weeks, until training camp begins in late July. Let's take a look at their biggest lingering issues entering camp.

Former Giants
Ben Bredeson - The fifth-year guard spent the past three years with the G-Men, appearing in 45 games, with 25 starts, and is now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Bredeson started 16 games last year for the Giants. Now, though, Bredeson is making the most of his reps with the Bucs and he turned heads at minicamp. With Bredeson, could this be yet another case of former Giants offensive line coach Bobby Johnson holding someone back?

Jun 14 The New York Giants began the offseason workout program on April 15, ramping up from strength and conditioning to 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills. Now the team will break until reporting for training camp in late July. Michael Ghobrial and 31 other special teams coordinators around the NFL have now had two months to tinker with the new kickoff rules in an on-field setting. So, how will it change the game?

Jun 13 New York Giants minicamp takeaways: Abbreviated workout precedes summer break. Brian Daboll has been doing the offensive play-calling this spring, though he has yet to admit he will do so during the season. So, what is offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, who called plays the past two seasons, doing? Kafka said he taking not calling plays "as an opportunity just to continue to grow as a coach and be, again, an asset to those coaches and players." Kafka saw how things function with the head coach calling plays when he was in Kansas City with Chiefs coach Andy Reid.

Jun 12 Minicamp is underway at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center. The head coach decided to forego 7-on-7 drills on Tuesday and instead ran full 11-on-11 in team periods. Naturally, his competitive quarterback was none too pleased to hear that news. As part of his rehab progression, Daniel Jones had been participating in 7-on-7s all spring and then turning the keys over to the backup quarterbacks for 11-on-11. Daboll said it's part of the plan to have Jones and everyone else ready for the first day of training camp. "I expect to be ready to go the first day of training camp," said Jones, who added that his cuts have felt "sharper" and "cleaner" as his explosiveness returns.

Jun 11 Seven NY Giants mandatory minicamp storylines to follow. A look at some of what we'll be watching as the Giants hit the field for their 2024 mandatory minicamp. The non-contact, padless practices, much like the 10 OTAs before them, are a chance for the coaching staff to gauge how far the players have come both individually and as a unit.

Jun 10 NY Giants tight end Darren Waller is calling it a career. Waller discussed his decision to retire in a video posted to YouTube on Sunday, saying that a health scare he experienced in November gave him clarity about his life. Waller detailed a "very scary situation" during which he struggled to breathe and ultimately spent over 3 days in the hospital unable to stand up, use the restroom or feed himself. Waller had stayed away from the team this offseason as he contemplated his future, bypassing a potential $200,000 workout bonus and now a base salary of $10.525 million for this upcoming season.

Jun 9 The New York Giants concluded the voluntary portion of the offseason workout program by wrapping up OTAs this week. There still remains a two-day minicamp next week, which will be mandatory and will officially wrap up the offseason workouts. But before we get there, the Giants gave plenty of nuggets from their 10 sessions at OTAs during the months of May and June.

Jun 8 How would the Giants need to adjust if Darren Waller retires, as is expected? If Waller announced his retirement, where would he leave the Giants offense? The immediate thought goes to the tight end room, which would now be left with Daniel Bellinger, Chris Manhertz, Jack Stoll, Tyree Jackson (injured), Lawrence Cager, and rookie Theo Johnson. Bellinger has had an inconsistent first two years of his career as far as production goes, but the film has been good, and his blocking ability is the best on the team.

Jun 7 The Giants were back on the practice field Thursday for the penultimate OTA practice at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center. The offense spent a majority of the team drills practicing inside the red zone, which produced plenty of fireworks. As we've seen throughout these spring practices, both sides of the ball have displayed tremendous effort during individual and team drills. The hard work put in during this part of the offseason should help the team jump right back into things when training camp kicks off next month.

Sterling Shepard explains massive reason he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Injuries and battling through multiple concussions in recent seasons have wreaked havoc on Shepard's career. The 31-year-old caught just 10 passes for 57 yards with a touchdown last season. However, the Buccaneers are hopeful that Shepard can make a legitimate push for the starting slot receiver role in Baker Mayfield's arsenal.

Jun 4 Special Report - It's not exactly a case of getting even being the best revenge, but the Philadelphia Eagles are abut to pay some sort of penalty for violating the free agent communications rules imposed by the NFL when they signed Giants' running back Saquon Barkley to a three-year contract as the signing period started. It won't bring Barkley back to the Giants - nor should they want him after his abrupt decision to leave the team - but it might inflict a bit of discomfort on the Eagles in the form of the forfeiture of a draft choice or two.

Jun 2 The 2023 New York Giants disappointed after qualifying for the postseason in 2022, but this year's team is poised to cash in on a slew of young players general manager Joe Schoen has brought in the past few years. There are six breakout candidates to keep an eye on.

Jun 1 Why you shouldn't sleep on WR Darius Slayton's value to Giants in 2024. Who knows quarterback Daniel Jones better than Slayton? They are both going into year three of this offensive system and not only will it make Daniel Jones sharper, but Slayton should also be more familiar with the system, allowing him to play more freely. Defenses will not be able to throw double coverage on rookie first-round pick Malik Nabers for fear of leaving the defense vulnerable to Slayton, who has consistently proven over his first five seasons that he is difficult to handle at the second and third levels.

May 31 One of the most important off-season additions made by the New York Giants is not on offense, defense, or special teams. It is, instead, on the coaching staff, where head coach Brian Daboll decided after last season to terminate offensive line coach Bobby Johnson, whose injury-plagued unit ranked 30th according to Pro Football Focus's pass-blocking efficiency with Carmen Bricillo, who spent two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders and before that with legendary offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia in New England.

May 30 General manager Joe Schoen and the front office made it a point to bolster the OL room during the offseason, signing guards Jon Runyan Jr. and Jermaine Eluemunor in free agency. But despite his struggles, ESPN insider Jordan Ranaan believes the Giants will roll out Evan Neal next to Runyan on the right side. This could prove to be a terrific or terrible move.

May 29 Darius Slayton back? The Giants' leading receiver in four of the last five seasons was conducting a soft holdout from voluntary practices while he hopes for a new contract. However, photos released from the team included Slayton participating in Tuesday's practice. That's a big development. Maybe it means the Giants came to an agreement on a new deal for Slayton, or maybe he felt the need to return to the team. Either way, the Giants got the running mate for Malik Nabers back.

May 27 Giants pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux has set a big personal goal as he enters his third season in New York. Michael Strahan held the sack record alone for two decades after setting the mark during his 2001 Defensive Player of the Year campaign. Watt tied that record while taking home the same award in 2021. Thibodeaux, who recorded a career-high 11.5 sacks in 2023, has arguably his best opportunity to date to chase history.

May 25 New York Giants tight end Darren Waller is taking his time to make a decision on whether or not to return for a ninth NFL season. That's just fine with his head coach, Brian Daboll, who says the team will give Waller all the time he needs. The Giants, meanwhile, should be better-positioned to manage not having Waller this year than they were a year ago after drafting former LSU star Malik Nabers with the No. 6 overall pick last month. Along with Wan'Dale Robinson now being fully recovered from his 2022 ACL tear, Jalin Hyatt heading into Year 2, and Darius Slayton returning, New York at least has a professional-looking receiver room.

May 24 Daniel Jones has no doubt he'll be ready Week 1; QB wasn't 'fired up' Giants looked at drafting QB. Daniel Jones expects to be in the saddle Week 1. Coming off a torn ACL suffered in November, the New York Giants quarterback participated in 7-on-7 drills this week during OTAs. Asked Thursday if there are any doubts that he'll be ready to face Minnesota to open the 2024 campaign, Jones responded: "I don't have any doubt about it." Head coach Brian Daboll said the Giants are still taking it slow with the QB coming off injury, keeping him out of full team drills.

May 23 The NFL has dropped the hip-drop, with John Mara's strong support. This year, the committee's discussions on the subject were dominated by the hip-drop tackle, which occurs when a defender wraps up a ballcarrier, swivels his hips, and drops onto the ballcarrier's legs. The play has been responsible for a disproportionate number of injuries, many of them serious and long-term. Mara said, "The owners also gave coaches a third challenge if at least one of his first two are successful. Coaches were previously limited to two replay requests a game."

May 22 The Giants were back on the field for OTA No. 2 at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center. They spent the bulk of the morning practice in the red zone, leading to plenty of action during 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills.

May 21 The Giants had their first OTA (organized team activity) of the offseason program on Monday at Quest Diagnostics Training Center. The first two phases of the offseason program constituted an opportunity for team and positional meetings, strength and conditioning, and non-competitive individual fieldwork with the offense and defense. OTA's represent phase three of the offseason program, which is the first time the offense and defense can face off together on the field. There are still rules that limit the parameters of that competition. No contact is allowed.

May 20 The small, rectangular room on the second floor of the Cedar Grove municipal building was packed with 100 chairs, only half of them filled. It served as the site of a ceremony honoring Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito were primarily DeVito's family and friends. They watched the five-minute session in which DeVito was presented a proclamation and a key to the township where he grew up and where his family still lives. "What Tommy did last year, another year in the system, Tommy has come a long way," general manager Joe Schoen said this offseason.

May 18 To celebrate their 100th season, the Giants are sending a gift box to all season-ticket accounts prior to the start of the season, which will include a set of replica Super Bowl rings and a double-sided commemorative ticket with one side replicating an original design from 1925.

May 17 To commemorate their 100th season, the New York Giants unveiled a "Century Red" uniform, which the team will wear for up to two games in 2024. The uniform harkens back to the earliest days of the franchise and features tan pants; red socks with blue and white stripes from the team's inaugural 1925 season; red jerseys accented with blue from 1933, when the Giants played in the first ever NFL Championship Game; and an iconic winged helmet honoring the 1938 champions as the Giants became a cornerstone in the foundation of the league. All of the team's 2024 jerseys will feature the team's "100 Seasons" patch.

May 16 The New York Giants' 2024 schedule was released along with the rest of the NFL slate on Wednesday. There are some notable games for the 100th season in franchise history, including their first regular-season trip to Germany. The Giants play the Carolina Panthers in Week 10 at Allianz Arena in Munich before their bye week. Later that month, they have a Thanksgiving afternoon game on the road against the Dallas Cowboys.

Five games to circle on Giants' 2024 schedule. Every game is big in the NFL, but some just get hyped more than others. From traveling overseas for their first regular-season game in Germany to facing a rival on Thanksgiving, the Giants' 2024 schedule has it all. Here are five intriguing games to circle this season.

May 14 The Intrigue behind the New York Giants 2024 schedule. It won't be much longer before the 2024 NFL regular-season schedules are released for all 32 teams. The New York Giants' 2024 schedule, whose opponents were first confirmed at the end of last season, should be interesting and filled with many subplots.

May 12 Can Allen Robinson's strong hands, route running, and experience elevate the Giants' passing game? Because he is an excellent route runner and has great change of direction, he is capable of breaking out of routes quickly, and he knows how to burst into open windows in defense. This makes him great against man coverage because he keeps the defense guessing about which direction he is going to break in.

May 11 Tyrone Tracy, Jr. had never stepped foot in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area before he arrived here Thursday to participate in the Giants' rookie minicamp. The Indiana native is eager to see what the big city is all about. A running back selected in the fifth round of the NFL Draft, Tracy believes he has the ability and the opening to instantly contribute.

May 8 The New York Giants added a quarterback to their roster by claiming Canadian quarterback and former New England Patriots passer Nathan Rourke off of waivers. He's the fourth quarterback on the 90-man roster, behind incumbent starter Daniel Jones, challenger Drew Lock, and depth-passer-turned-viral-sensation Tommy DeVito. With the Giants, he'll serve two purposes: being an able-bodied arm for training camp and potentially pushing for DeVito's spot as the third-string quarterback.

May 7 It's been a long time coming but New York Gants legend Chris Snee will finally be making his return to East Rutherford. Chris Snee finally returns to Giants, hired as a scout. Originally a second-round pick in the 2004 NFL draft, Snee spent 10 seasons with the Giants, establishing himself as one of the best guards in the league.

May 5 The New York Giants selected former Purdue running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. with the No. 166 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. A former wide receiver turned running back, Tracy Jr. projects as a versatile weapon for a new-look offense. His multi-purpose skill set should allow him to make a positive impact as a first-year contributor.

May 2 Giants sign veteran defensive back David Long. New York finally adds a veteran cornerback to a relatively young room. Long joins a relatively young cornerbacks room headed by Deonte Banks, last year's first-round draft pick who earned a starting role. Long's competition for the CB2 starting role will include Nick McCloud and Tre Hawkins III.

May 1 Did the New York Giants get good value in the 2024 NFL Draft? Instant grades, value assessments and the like immediately after the draft are what they are - fodder for discussion and snap judgment about which teams did well and which teams did not. What truly matters is how these players perform once they get on the field. Do they play well and help their teams win? Do they, after a period of a couple of years, prove to be the wrong choice and contribute to getting the GM and/or head coach fired? In terms of the Giants' draft, we will find out.

Apr 30 Special Report - The Giants failed to help the O-line.
For the Giants, the 2024 draft ended with the sixth round, and here they are:
1 - Wide Receiver Malik Nabers, LSU
2 - Safety Tyler Nubin, Minnesota
3 - Cornerback Andru Phillips, Kentucky
4 - Tight end Theo Johnson, Penn State
5 - Running back Tyrone Tracy, Purdue
6 - Linebacker Darius Muasau, UCLA
And no, you aren't missing anything, nor are your eyes deceiving you. There is not an offensive lineman to be found, despite the fact that many thought this was the prime area of need for the team. Well, apparently general manager Joe Schoen didn't think that was the case, nor did he receive any prompting from his buddy from Buffalo, head coach Brian Daboll.

Apr 29 Joe Schoen often says the Giants' roster is an evolving entity. But the heavy lifting is mostly finished regarding the construction of the 2024 team. This offseason, the Giants have signed 14 veteran free agents, traded for two-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Brian Burns, and this weekend, drafted six players. They will add several undrafted free agents, particularly before the rookie minicamp in two weeks.

Apr 27 Update - The New York Giants kicked off their undrafted free agent class with a UCLA defensive back that was a turnover machine in 2023. "Former UCLA defensive back Alex Johnson will sign with the New York Giants," relayed UCLA reporter James H. Williams after the conclusion of the NFL draft. Most undrafted prospects aren't guaranteed any money, let alone a six-figure agreement. The Giants must have really wanted him if they shelled out $115,000 just to get him in the building.

Apr 27 Update - New York Giants Draft Versatile Running Back-Receiver-Returner Tyrone Tracy in Round 5 of 2024 NFL Draft. Tracy is a converted receiver, and it shows up across his game for better or worse.

Apr 27 Update - New York Giants pick TE Theo Johnson in Round 4 of 2024 NFL Draft. Johnson ran the second-fastest time in the 40-yard dash among tight ends (4.57 seconds) and also was No. 2 in the broad jump (10 feet, 5 inches) and the vertical jump (39 feet, 5 inches).

Andru Phillips won teams over with his versatility and quickly became a rising target during the draft process. The Kentucky corner may best be described as a defensive back because of that trait. He'll likely see snaps all over the formation, from boundary corner to safety.

Apr 26 Update - Giants select S Tyler Nubin with 47th pick in 2024 NFL Draft.

Grading New York Giants' pick of S Tyler Nubin in 2024 NFL Draft. The Giants turned around and grabbed a versatile asset in the secondary. Though the safety class isn't as strong as it typically has been in recent seasons, Nubin is arguably the best prospect at the position in 2024.

Recapping the NFC East after Day 1. The NFC East had a productive first night of the NFL Draft.
New York Giants Round 1, Pick 6 - WR Malik Nabers (LSU)
Philadelphia Eagles Round 1, Pick 22: CB Quinyon Mitchell (Toledo)
Dallas Cowboys Round 1, Pick 29: OT Tyler Guyton (Oklahoma)
Washington Commanders Round 1, Pick 2: QB Jayden Daniels (LSU)

Apr 25 The Giants landed Malik Nabers with the sixth pick in the NFL Draft. Ask any with even the slightest semblance of draft knowledge and they'll tell you the same thing about New York's new No. 1 receiver: He's explosive. That's a very good thing considering how awful the Giants offense was a year ago. But what Nabers is not, is a quarterback. The Giants tried desperately to trade up with the Patriots for No. 3. They couldn't get it done, with New England taking Drake Maye, believed to be the top player on the Giants board, for themselves.

Giants 'ecstatic' with Malik Nabers as No. 6 pick of NFL draft. The Giants had a need at wide receiver. Specifically, they needed a No. 1 receiver, something they had been missing since trading Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns in 2019. They signed Golden Tate in 2019 and Kenny Golladay in 2021 as free agents. Both failed miserably to fill the role in New York. Now, the hope is that the "electric" Nabers is the answer. He could be the most talented receiver Jones has ever had at his disposal.

Apr 25 Update - Giants select LSU WR Malik Nabers with No. 6 overall pick in 2024 NFL draft.

Apr 25 From last year at this time - Let the board talk to you:
Inside the Giants 42-screen draft room. To call it a "chair" wouldn't do it justice. When Joe Schoen sits down in the Giants' draft room, he assumes the captain seat of what looks like the control room of a submarine. The 1,200-square-foot space on the second floor of the two-story Quest Diagnostics Training Center has no windows. Football Ops needed every inch to fit 42 screens across three walls, each meticulously placed with a purpose and each capable of pulling up any piece of information on a prospect at the tap of a finger.

Apr 25 With the NFL Draft almost here, the NY Giants are in crunch time to decide what to do in the first round on Thursday night. Giants general manager Joe Schoen could either draft one of the top receivers at No. 6 like Malik Nabers or actively seek trade partners to move up and draft a quarterback like Drake Maye or J.J. McCarthy. While Maye would be a perfect fit in New York, Joe Schoen and the Giants' front office may need to pump the brakes on finding Daniel Jones' successor. NFL insider Dianna Russini stated it would be a "tough sell to ownership"to trade up for a franchise quarterback to replace Danny Dimes. So, John Mara might get in the way of things after all?

Apr 23 Special Report - It's only days before the Giants make their first-round selection in the 2024 NFL draft - and people are still wondering if they're going to actually take a quarterback. There have been scores of quasi reporters offering scores of mock first rounds, and many of them have included a quarterback for the Giants' first pick, and the identity of the target has been equally elusive. But now there is a statement from GM Joe Schoen, who will make that final decision, and while it doesn't actually clear things up, it offers some insight. He said would be "comfortable" with the three quarterbacks currently on the roster - Daniel Jones, Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito.

Apr 21 Daniel Jones insists he's the right QB for Giants, and why a QB controversy would be bad. The idea of a competition/controversy - two words that in this case are virtually interchangeable - was floated by Giants co-owner John Mara at the NFL owners meetings in March. "Why not let them both compete?" Mara said. There are actually a group of people who feel like that's a tremendous idea, and almost all of them work in the New York media. Almost everyone else, though, recognizes that as the seeds of a nightmare, because it would set up the most high-profile quarterback competition/controversy the Giants have had since the explosive Phil Simms-Jeff Hostetler affair back in the early 1990s.

Apr 19 Joe Schoen took a break in the action on Thursday afternoon to hold his pre-draft press conference. Schoen said their final draft board should be set by Friday evening. They will step away from it for the weekend. Schoen said he doesn't think teams are ready to move yet in the draft order, but they're listening. "We all do that.". Schoen would be "comfortable" with going into the season with the three quarterbacks they currently have.

Apr 16 Daniel Jones cleared up a few things when the Giants reported for the start of offseason workouts on Monday. He plans to be ready for the start of training camp. His neck, which cost him three games before a torn ACL ended his season completely, is 100 percent. As for the question about whether he is the best option at quarterback for the team in 2024, he believes so.

Apr 11 The New York Giants have a new defensive coordinator. During his last coaching gig, Shane Bowen led one of the better defenses in the National Football League. He takes over a defense with plenty of talent and is focused on getting the most out of the budding defensive unit. Playing aggressively is one thing, but something that arguably was missing last year from the defense former defensive coordinator Wink Martindale called was always getting guys in the right position. For example, Martindale often had outside linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux in coverage, which was not the best deployment of his talent.

Apr 7 Isaiah Simmons is quite happy he was able to re-sign with the NY Giants Short and to the point, all Simmons had to do was tweet out the Statue of Liberty to let Giants Nation know he'll be ready to make more plays for this defense moving forward. Thanks to his versatility, Simmons could line up at either safety or linebacker for new defensive coordinator Shane Bowen.

Apr 3 State of Giants' offensive line: What it looks like pre-draft. John Mara did not mince words last week at the NFL Annual Meeting. The team president was asked about the offensive line being a topic of conversation around the Giants for the past decade. "You're right it's ridiculous," Mara responded, "and it's a continuing source of frustration for me. It's time to get it fixed. We've invested in a couple of No. 1 draft picks on offensive tackles. We have a No. 2 draft pick playing at center, and now we have spent some money in free agency. We have a new offensive line coach. I expect us to be a hell of a lot better this year."

Apr 1 Breakdown of Giants' 6 picks in ESPN 7-round mock draft. Overall, the Giants only have six picks in this year's draft, with only two teams having fewer. However, with just about all of those picks coming towards the top of each round, the Giants do rank 12th in total draft capital value, which should result in them finding some immediate help.

Mar 31 It never felt like the Giants were going to keep Saquon Barkley. Last year, they reportedly offered Barkley a three-year deal in the $11 million per year range with around $22 million guaranteed, but the star running back turned it down. From that point, general manager Joe Schoen dropped subtle hints that Barkley wouldn't be re-signed in free agency.

NFC East News
Cowboys - The Dallas Cowboys and free-agent running back Ezekiel Elliott are reportedly considering a reunion this offseason. Elliott, 28, spent his first seven NFL seasons in Dallas before signing a one-year deal and playing for the New England Patriots last season.
Eagles - The league's collective reluctance to pay running backs played heavily into the Philadelphia Eagles' decision to sign Saquon Barkley to a three-year, $37.75 million contract in free agency. Why the Eagles don't think they overspent on Saquon Barkley.
Commanders - Marcus Mariota, a former No. 2 overall pick himself, wasn't beguiled about the situation he was walking into when he signed with Washington. He knows that the Commanders are likely to take one of the top quarterbacks in the draft, which would mean that he'll be the primary backup like he was with the Eagles in 2023.

Mar 30 The NFL released the dates for all 32 clubs' voluntary offseason workout programs, which are intended to provide training, teaching and physical conditioning for players. The Giants' calendar for 2024. First Day: April 15.
OTA Offseason Workouts: May 20-21, May 23, May 28-29, May 31, June 3-4, June 6-7.
Mandatory Minicamp: June 11-13.

Mar 27 All the yelling and screaming that surrounded last season has New York Giants coach Brian Daboll feeling some regret. Daboll and the Giants went 6-11 in a tumultuous year that ended with an explosive meeting between Daboll and former defensive coordinator Wink Martindale. It concluded with Martindale cursing out his former boss and the two sides eventually parting ways. "Yeah, there are times I wish I handled things a little bit differently, certainly," Daboll said of the past year. "So, you continue to grow, continue to evolve."

2024 NFL rule changes: New kickoff rules, hip-drop tackle ban, replay reviews. A massive change to kickoffs, a ban on a dangerous tackling technique and expanded use of instant replay are among the major rule changes the NFL has approved for the 2024 season. Here is the full list of rules change proposals, bylaws and resolutions that NFL clubs adopted at the NFL Annual Meeting this week.

Mar 26 John Mara remains a strong supporter of the Giants' player procurement process and those atop the team's decision-making hierarchy. But he expects better results after a season that he said, "nobody was happy with." The Giants were 6-11 in 2023, a step back after winning nine games, plus one in the playoffs, the previous season. Mara also remains a vocal advocate of quarterback Daniel Jones, who was limited to six games in 2023 because of injuries, notably a torn ACL that ended his season on Nov. 5. And when he did play, Jones was subjected to frequent pressure because of a spate of injuries on the offensive line.

Mar 25 The New York Giants decided to reshuffle their finances in 2024, boldly allowing running back Saquon Barkley and safety Xavier McKinney to walk in NFL free agency. Although this might have been the correct course of action for Big Blue, that doesn't mean departures like these won't end up thriving elsewhere. The Green Bay Packers' signing of McKinney is already getting a lot of attention around the NFL community, for example.

Mar 24 After surrendering an NFL-high 85 sacks last season, New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen's top priority this offseason was to rebuild the offensive line. Through the first two weeks of free agency, no team has acquired more quality offensive linemen than the Giants.

Mar 22 The New York Giants have had a busy start to the offseason following their lackluster 2023 campaign, which was marred by relentless injuries and poor performances. Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll have focused on retooling the most premium positions on the roster and ensuring they grow at a cheaper rate for a team with just over $40 million of cap space when it all started. Thus far, it seems to have worked out for them, but the true results won't be seen until the team takes the field next fall.

Mar 21 Special Report - What will the New York Giants running game look like without Saquon Barkley? For the first time since the 2017 season, the New York Giants will not have Barkley on the roster. The 27-year-old star running back signed a three-year, $37.75 million contract with the rival Philadelphia Eagles last week. Even though the writing was on the wall that it was unlikely Barkley would return to the Giants, many fans were furious that he decided to sign with the Eagles of all teams.
But when you take a step back and think rationally, you can't fault anyone who feels they're making the best financial decision for themselves and their family. It will be weird seeing Barkley in an Eagles uniform, but at the end of the day, the NFL is a business where players move from team to team for one reason or another. Now that the shock of losing one of the most dynamic offensive players in the team's history, Giants fans are wondering what the offense will look like without Barkley.

Mar 19 The New York Giants met with Russell Wilson last week. Then they signed Drew Lock. They have also heavily scouted all the top quarterbacks in this year's draft, and they've spoken to teams about the possibility of trading up, presumably to take one. Giants general manager Joe Schoen insisted at the NFL Scouting Combine last month that "I have faith in Daniel as our starting quarterback." But he also admitted the need to "address the position" because of the uncertain recovery timeline of Jones' recovery from his torn ACL. The Giants seem to be hedging their bets against Jones for the short term. But are they also plotting out new options for the long term?

Mar 18 The New York Giants focused heavily on retooling their offensive line over the first week of free agency, signing Jermaine Eluemunor, Jon Runyan Jr., Austin Schlottmann, and Aaron Stinnie. ESPN's Jordan Raanan reports that the Giants have reached out to Neal's team to discuss the possibility of him moving to guard. More specifically, to left guard alongside Andrew Thomas.

Mar 17 The Giants obtained Brian Burns in a trade with the Panthers, sending them a 2024 second-round draft choice (No. 39) and a 2025 fifth-round selection and agreeing to a swap of fifth rounders this year (the Giants getting No. 166 and sending No. 141 to Carolina). Burns is one of the NFL's most effective pass rushers.

Former Giants
Xavier McKinney, who signed a four-year, $67 million contract with the Green Bay Packers, met with the Packers media this past week and shared some thoughts about his time with the Giants, speaking glowingly of the franchise.

Mar 16 Just days after joining the New York Giants as a free agent, quarterback Drew Lock is clearing the air about his decision to leave Seattle and move to the East Coast. Contrary to what Seahawks general manager John Schneider expressed, Lock said the Giants did not offer the 27-year-old the chance to compete with Daniel Jones for the starting job.

Former Giants
Michael Strahan delights in Jon Runyan having to cheer for Giants. Michael Strahan became friends with Jon Runyan thanks to some matchmaking chicanery by his fierce rival's wife at the Pro Bowl in Honolulu following the 2002 season. That partnership took on a new dimension this week when standout guard Jon Runyan, Jr. signed as a free agent with the Giants.

Mar 14 The New York Giants have been fairly active during the "legal tampering" period of NFL free agency this year. The Giants have improved the offensive line...no, they just added mediocre players and missed out on the best free agent OLs. The Giants added an elite pass rusher...no, he's good but not worth the money they're paying him. The Giants let their best offensive player leave...no, he's an injury-prone back who's not as good as the best running backs in the league.

NFC East News
Biggest winners, losers from NFC East in opening days of NFL free agency. One of the biggest names on the market changed teams, but stayed inside the division. The New York Giants appeared to be the biggest losers when the market opened with a pair of high-profile losses, only to salvage their offseason with an enormous trade later in the day. Meanwhile, the Washington Commanders, of all teams, have done something really unusual for them - smart spending. While the "all in" Dallas Cowboys have, apparently, decided to sit free agency out.

Mar 13 The New York Giants have reached a one-year, guaranteed $5 million deal with former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Drew Lock. The signing helps fill the void created by the departure of free agent Tyrod Taylor, who agreed to terms with the New York Jets on Monday. Lock will join starter Daniel Jones and Tommy DeVito in the quarterback room, but the Giants could potentially address the position early in next month's draft with the No. 6 overall pick.

Mar 12 It wasn't an easy day in East Rutherford, N.J., as the Giants let two good young players walk away. But Joe Schoen knew rebuilding the Giants would require tough decisions, and the GM believes strongly in the difference in values between positions. Some players are worth big money. Others aren't.
Schoen traded for Brian Burns, a 26-year-old pass-rushing stud, on Monday and then quickly signed him to a massive five-year, $150 million contract with $87.5 million guaranteed, according to multiple NFL sources. It cost the Giants an early second-round pick (39th overall) and a fifth-rounder in this year's draft, which they sent to Carolina.

Saquon Barkley reached an agreement with the Philadelphia Eagles on a three-year, $37.75 million contract that could be worth up to $46.75 million and includes $26 million fully guaranteed at signing, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Barkley now beats the franchise tag number and has a maximum average-per-year salary of $15.833 million, which would be second highest for a running back in NFL history.

The Giants have agreed to terms with running back Devin Singletary, pending a physical. Singletary was a third-round pick (No. 74 overall) by the Buffalo Bills in 2019. After spending his first four seasons with the Bills, Singletary spent the 2023 campaign with the Houston Texans. The 5-foot-7, 203-pound running back appeared in all 17 games with 10 starts for the Texans last season. He finished with a career-high 898 rushing yards on 216 rushing attempts (4.2 yards per carry) with four touchdowns and added 30 receptions for an additional 193 yards.

Packers to sign Giants safety Xavier McKinney to four-year, $68M deal. Green Bay revitalizes its secondary with the NFL's highest-graded safety in coverage. The 24-year-old's new deal ranks as the fourth highest in average per year ($17 million) and total value ($68 million) among all NFL safety contracts. Pro Football Focus graded him as the NFL's best safety in coverage (91.2 coverage grade) as he totaled three interceptions while not allowing any passing touchdowns in 2023.

Mar 11 Giants' last-minute guide to 2024 NFL free agency. The New York Giants 2023 season didn't go as planned. After making a surprise appearance the previous year, just about everything that could have gone wrong for New York did. Quarterback Daniels Jones suffered a season-ending ACL tear, running back Saquon Barkley battled his own injury issues and the Giants regressed on both sides of the ball, fairly substantially.
The result was a disappointing 6-11 record and a lot of questions heading into 2024. The new league year, along with the official start of free agency, will kick off at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday. What should be on the Giants' agenda this week? Let's take a final look at New York's biggest needs, most notable free agents, potential targets and cap situation.

Mar 9 Giants have 'exploratory meeting' with Russell Wilson ahead of NFL free agency. On the surface, it was exploratory. Due diligence. Does Russell Wilson to the Giants make sense? Given the Giants quarterbacking situation, which - to put it mildly - is in flux, why not have a look? Incumbent starter Daniel Jones is coming off a torn ACL, and his status for the start of the season is in question. Jones' veteran backup, Tyrod Taylor, is as injury prone as Jones is and a free agent who may or may not be re-signed.

Mar 8 Tiki Barber may be the Giants all-time rushing leader, but he has a warning for Saquon Barkley ahead of free agency after rumored Eagles interest Saquon Barkley's tenure with the New York Giants may be coming to an end, but where his next destination might be has many in the area uneasy. Originally born in the Bronx, Barkley's family moved to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania - just an hour outside of Philadelphia - when the future NFL running back was just four years old. The rumors have left one of New York's greatest running back legends beside himself when thinking about that possibility.

Mar 5 Special Report - A look at the top quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft and what it would take for the Giants to draft them. After another injury-riddled and turnover-plagued season, even the most avid Daniel Jones supporter must acknowledge it's time for the Giants to move on from him. His record as a starter is now 22-36-1, and the only time he hasn't missed time due to an injury in his five-year career was in 2022.
Jones' most effective attribute is his running ability, but even that might be compromised after he tore his ACL in Week 9 against the Las Vegas Raiders. New York currently has the sixth overall pick in the draft, but also has the draft capital to move up. Here's a quick look at the top projected quarterbacks in this year's draft class, and the probability that the Giants will be able to draft them.

Mar 3 The New York Giants are releasing veteran guard Mark Glowinski after two seasons with the team. The Giants signed him to a three-year, $20 million deal to be a starting guard as they tried to rebuild their offensive line. It didn't work. The Giants' line was a liability last season, allowing a league-high 85 sacks. It was an expected move after Glowinski lost his starting job following a rough start to the 2023 season. It was hardly just Glowinski.

Mar 2 The 2023 NFL season marked Darren Waller's first with the New York Giants. And it could be his last. The Pro Bowl tight end contemplated retirement immediately following the year, according to the New York Post. Waller has not decided whether he will play in 2024 as he is currently weighing is options.

Former Giants
Nick Gates spent the first five seasons of his NFL career with the New York Giants after going undrafted in 2018. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Washington will release offensive lineman Nick Gates at the start of the new league year on March 13.

Mar 1 Put NFL analyst Chris Simms firmly in the 'build around Daniel Jones' camp when it comes to the question of what the New York Giants should do at quarterback this offseason. There has been a constant stream of chatter about the possibility the Giants are considering moving up from No. 6 to No. 3 -- provided the New England Patriots are willing to move out of that spot -- to get one of the top three quarterbacks. Simms doesn't believe the Giants, coming off a 6-11 season, are in a position to trade away the necessary draft assets to move up.

Feb 29 Brian Daboll was one of the best-performing categories for the New York Giants. He received an A- grade by the NFLPA for his performance as a head coach this past season. Considering there were grades as low as F in these categories, the Giants made out well on these report cards. New York did not have a lower than a C grade in any category.

Feb 28 Last season Joe Schoen confirmed he listened in on the play calls starting with the second Washington game but denied it had anything to do with any staff friction. Schoen addressed his involvement during the team's second game against the Commanders last season, allegedly to monitor how head coach Brian Daboll was interacting with the staff during a game when tensions can run high. Schoen confirmed that he did listen to the play-calling sequence on the headset, but not for the reasons reported.

Feb 24 The NFL Scouting Combine is next week in Indianapolis. Teams will be interviewing draft prospects, putting them through medical exams and watching them go through athletic testing all week. That, though, won't be the only business conducted. The other dirty little secret that isn't really a secret is that a lot of the groundwork for free agent deals will be laid in Indianapolis. Deals won't officially get made, but a whole lot of information about who might be willing to go where, which players teams are interested in, and what certain players are looking for will be exchanged.

Feb 18 With the new league year in the NFL opening on March 13, the New York Giants will soon need to face reality and make some tough decisions regarding free agency. With a whopping 26 free agents according to Spotrac, many of whom are expecting high-paying extensions, the Giants will undoubtedly have to burn some bridges this offseason. Here's a list of the free agents that will be hitting the open market and some early predictions on how some critical decisions will shake out come March 13.

Feb 16 The Giants have a number of key free agent decisions to make with Saquon Barkley and Xavier McKinney set to hit the open market. The same is also true of cornerback Adoree' Jackson, who recently doubled down on his desire to remain in New York on a new deal. He has served as a full-time starter during his Giants stint, racking up 23 pass deflections and a pair of interceptions along the way. Jackson earned solid PFF grades in his first two Giants campaigns, but things took a turn for the worse in 2023.

Feb 15 Head coach Brian Daboll selected former Titans defensive coordinator Shane Bowen to fill the all-important role, tasking Bowen with getting the Giants defense back to being among the top in the league in macro and micro statistical categories. Bowen was in charge of a solid defense in Tennessee, where there were areas where his defense excelled and others where there were questions about how much improvement Giants fans might expect in 2024.

Feb 13 Bobby Johnson was the Giants' offensive line coach for the past two seasons before being fired in early January. Why was he fired, you might ask? Because his offensive line was absolutely wretched. Washington's new head coach, Dan Quinn, has been assembling his coaching staff over the course of the past couple of weeks, and - for the most part - there's been a certain rationality in the way that it's come together. Johnson is a baffling hire as OL coach.

Feb 11 The New York Giants want Saquon Barkley back, but their approach toward making it happen could be different than last year's. By allowing Barkley to test the market and then bring home offers for the Giants to consider, New York is essentially allowing other teams to negotiate for them, which puts them at a disadvantage. But at the end of the day, Barkley's preference is to finish what he started with the Giants, which is to get the team back to playoff relevancy.

Feb 10 Tommy DeVito and Saquon Barkley discuss uncertain futures with the NY Giants. It's up in the air if either player will return to MetLife next season. Barkley, he has said he wants to be a Giant for life, but he and general manager Joe Schoen haven't had any luck when they've met at the negotiating table. The deadline for Schoen to use the franchise tag on Barkley is 4 p.m. ET on March 5. DeVito knows the Giants could draft a QB in April.

Feb 8 The New York Giants announced several changes to their coaching staff on Wednesday, including the promotion of offensive coordinator Mike Kafka to assistant head coach. The Giants also announced two other promotions: Quarterbacks coach Shea Tierney is being given the additional title of passing game coordinator. Defensive backs coach Jerome Henderson, who interviewed for the defensive coordinator position that was given to former Tennessee Titans' defensive coordinator, will become defensive passing game coordinator.

Feb 7 Special Report - Nearly a month after former defensive coordinator Wink Martindale exploded in a meeting, allegedly made wild accusations against head coach Brian Daboll, and threatened to resign before he and the Giants officially parted ways, the search for his replacement has ended.
Following a thorough search that included interviews with former Baltimore defensive backs coach Dennard Wilson, among others, the Giants have hired ex-Tennessee defensive coordinator Shane Bowen, who Wilson ultimately replaced after the Titans' coaching staff was purged following the firing of former head coach Mike Vrabel. It is believed that Wilson was a front-runner for the Giants' job.

Feb 6 The New York Giants hired former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Tim Kelly to be their tight ends coach. Kelly just completed his second season with the Titans and his 10th season coaching in the NFL. He was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2023 after serving as passing game coordinator in 2022. Prior to arriving in Tennessee, he spent eight seasons with the Houston Texans, including three campaigns as their offensive coordinator. In 2022, Kelly's duties included work with the Titans' tight ends, putting together the first- and second-down passing game, and helping with the offensive plan in the red zone.

Feb 5 Brian Daboll blocking Giants OC Mike Kafka from new intervew request is telling. Seattle came calling again, but Coach Dabes but his foot down. Can we put an end to the speculation that Brian Daboll doesn't get along with NY Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka? If that was the case, then Coach Dabes might have helped the soon-to-be third-year OC pack his bags to leave New Jersey.

Former Giants
Michael Strahan very nearly became a Dallas Cowboys draft pick, but thanks to the Cowboys getting cute, Strahan's NFL path changed for the better.

Feb 4 Justin Pugh came 'straight off the couch' to try and help the New York Giants' flailing offensive line in the middle of the 2023 NFL season.. Pugh's leadership was undeniable, and important, to the Giants as the season wore on. Teammates quickly gained respect for the Giants' 2013 first-round pick. That leadership would help in 2024, as well. What the Giants have to judge is the reasons for Pugh's on-field performance, and what role he might be able to play.

Feb 3 New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley wants to be a Giant for life, and the Giants would love for nothing better than to make that happen. But Barkley also wants some sort of financial security, and that's where he and the Giants have, at least up until now, varied as they try to find a middle ground that's a win-win for both parties.

Feb 2 Wide receiver Sterling Shepard, who played his final game with the team that selected him in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of the University of Oklahoma, might not be a part of the New York Giants future, but he's also not quite ready to call it quits as an active NFL player.

Feb 1 Five mistakes the Giants can't afford to make in 2024. The pressure is on for Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll to fix things this offseason. When you go from a playoff contender to looking at mock drafts before the end of October, something went severely wrong along the way, and that's where the New York Giants found themselves in 2023. The franchise made a bevy of mistakes last season, and it led to a putrid couple of months, sans the three-week Tommy DeVito love-fest.

Jan 31 Joe Schoen, Giants must stay steadfast in stance with star RB Saquon Barkley You feel for Barkley, you do. He's done everything right since the Giants selected him second overall. The poor drafting and roster mismanagement of the last regime are why his tenure in blue hasn't been more successful. It's no fault of his own. But that doesn't matter now. This isn't a charity.

Jan 30 The New York Giants traded up one slot in the 2023 NFL Draft to ensure the selection of Maryland cornerback Deonte Banks. The Giants now have an effective young player on their roster for possibly five years. However, the future of the Giants' cornerback room is not dubious, and it remains one of the many positions due for help in the 2024 offseason.

Former Giants
Phil Simms believes the New York Giants could be the wonder story of the next NFL season. Simms maintains the Giants actually had a decent year despite their offensive inefficiency and a 6-11 finish in the regular season. "I think they were a little unfortunate about three games," the CBS Sports star and The NFL Today analyst said.

Jan 28 Giants unrestricted free agents and dates to know: | Feb. 20: Beginning this date through 4:00 p.m., New York time on March 5, clubs may designate Franchise or Transition Players. | Feb. 27-March 4: NFL Scouting Combine, Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis. | March 5: Prior to 4:00 p.m., New York time, deadline for clubs to designate Franchise or Transition Players.

Jan 27 Kayvon Thibodeaux expressed his belief in Daniel Jones and the Giants front office as another draft approaches, but he was admittedly "mad" about Barkley not getting long-term security given what he has done for the organization.

Jan 26 Giants hire Michael Ghobrial as special teams coordinator. The Giants' new special teams coordinator won't need a tutorial on the unpredictable winds in MetLife Stadium. Michael Ghobrial, who spent the previous three seasons as an assistant on the Jets' staff, has been hired as the Giants' new coordinator. With the Jets, Ghobrial coached under coordinator Brant Boyer and fellow assistant Leon Washington as the team fielded one of the NFL's best special teams units.- More.

Jan 25 The offensive line wasn't good last year and hasn't been good in a while. Is it talent, coaching, or both? Since 2018, the Giants have drafted nine offensive linemen in virtually every round of the draft, Of that vast group, only one player, Andrew Thomas, has blossomed into anything close to resembling an All-Pro, and people were questioning if he'd ever admit to being anything more than a hill of beans after a dreadful rookie campaign.

Jan 24 Defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence continues to rack up accolades following his dominant 2023 campaign. Lawrence was named to the Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA) All-NFC Team for the second consecutive season. The fifth-year lineman was once again one of the most dominant interior defensive linemen in the NFL this season. He registered 4.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss, 21 quarterback hits and two passes defensed to go with his 53 total tackles (32 solo).

Jan 23 Over the last five NFL Drafts, the New York Giants spent two top-seven overall draft picks on offensive tackles to bolster their offensive line moving forward. In 2020, the Giants selected Andrew Thomas fourth overall; in 2022, they drafted Evan Neal seventh overall.
Even after spending two top draft picks on offensive linemen over the last few seasons, the Giants offensive line still allowed the most sacks of any team in the National Football League this season. It ranked near the bottom of the league in many statistical categories. Injuries were a large part of the reason for the unit's struggles.

Jan 22 Special Report - You've had time to shake it off now, wash the 2023 season away clean. You are now ready to move on, forward into the offseason and 2024. Welcome to the Great Reset. Again. We, like general manager Joe Schoen, have to remain focused and vigilant to get the Giants to a better place. Scattershot is not a strategy. But where do we begin? The draft already? Free agency? Coaching? Yes to all of the above, but with restraint.

Jan 21 After finishing last season with All-Pro honors, New York Giants offensive tackle Andrew Thomas solidified himself as one of the better tackles in the National Football League. This season, however, Thomas missed a career-high seven games with injuries, the worst of which was a strained hamstring suffered in the team's Week 1 blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Even when he was healthy enough to return, Thomas didn't look quite the same, though Thomas at 50 or 60 percent is probably better than most at or near 100 percent.

Jan 20 The New York Giants have a problem that's beginning to boil over, and their attempts to control the narrative have failed. After months of denying that tension exists inside 1925 Giants Drive, it's now apparent that the environment, as some staffers have suggested, has become toxic. Offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, who has reportedly faced the brunt of Daboll's eruptions, is unhappy. And even if he doesn't land any of the head coaching jobs he's interviewed for, Raanan expects him to take his leave from East Rutherford as well.

Former Giants
Antonio Pierce will be an inspirational story to every interim head coach for the foreseeable future. The Las Vegas Raiders have officially named him the full-time head coach. If you get a chance to coach an NFL team for part of a season, you have a shot to impress, and Pierce certainly did. The Raiders responded to him, and a strong half-season as interim coach has led Pierce to get the job on a permanent basis.

Jan 19 The New York Giants haven't been able to build a stable offensive line over the past decade. It's not for a lack of trying. They have dipped continuously into the draft (a league-high five top-100 picks in the past four drafts), dabbled at the top of free agency and even tried to develop talent internally. Nothing has worked. Coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen hired Carmen Bricillo from the Las Vegas Raiders last week as the seventh offensive line coach in the past 12 years for the Giants.

Jan 18 New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen spent much of last offseason trying to add playmakers at the wide receiver spot. He landed Jalin Hyatt in the draft and Parris Campbell in free agency, to mixed results. Let's review the performance of the wide receiver position in 2023, and look ahead to what the position could look like in 2024. The roster Darius Slayton, Wan'Dale Robinson, Jalin Hyatt, Isaiah Hodgins, Sterling Shepard, Parris Campbell.

Jan 17 The Giants are selecting sixth in the upcoming draft. Picking so high and hitting on the selection can be a franchise-altering event. Truly special players can go a long way in changing the trajectory of a team, even if that player is not a quarterback.

Former Giants
Odell Beckham Jr. believes the New York Giants were trying to sabotage his career by shipping him to the Cleveland Browns in 2019 ... revealing he felt his old team made the trade just to "f*** me over."

Jan 16 Giants' Brian Daboll has 'no composure,' assistants warned to stay away. In the aftermath of defensive coordinator Wink Martindale "parting ways" with the New York Giants, several reports have surfaced suggesting that head coach Brian Daboll is erratic and irrational, and regularly dressed down his assistants in a personal fashion.

Jan 15 The Wink Martindale era as defensive coordinator of the New York Giants seems to have reached its end. Instead of diving into all of the conjecture surrounding his departure, this seemed like a good time to reflect on his tenure with the team and his effect on the defense. A look at what worked in former defensive coordinator Wink Martindale's scheme, and what would a new defensive coordinator need to change.

Jan 14 The New York Giants had a disappointing 2023-24 NFL season. With a record of 6-11, they came up well short of the playoffs after reaching the divisional round the year prior. There was speculation that there was tension inside the locker room this season. Now, a new report reveals that there was even more tension than we originally thought. Xavier McKinney reportedly threatened to not re-sign.

Jan 13 The NY Giants and defensive coordinator Wink Martindale parted ways this week after tensions between head coach Brian Daboll and him boiled over. Martindale exploded on Daboll following the firing of his most trusted assistants, Drew and Kevin Wilkins, leading the veteran defensive coordinator to head home to Florida. But the issues between Martindale and Daboll began long before that fiery exchange. In fact, they started to butt heads during their very first training camp together in 2022.

Jan 12 Giants hire former Raiders offensive line coach Carmen Bricill. Bricillo is a 20-year coaching veteran, including five in the NFL. Like Daboll, he has ties to Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots. Bricillo was the O-line coach of the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022-23 and the Patriots the two seasons prior to that. Only 11 teams allowed fewer sacks in 2023 than the Raiders' 40 in 2023.

Jan 11 It is now official that the New York Giants and Don "wink" Martindale have reached an agreement to mutually part ways, so the top defensive coordinator will have a job somewhere else next season. The Giants held out hope that would be able to to make things work with the defensive coordinator but now it has officially been reported that they have agreed to part ways. The coach is now free to head elsewhere and he should get many opportunities as there are a plethora of open coaching jobs and more are coming.

Jan 10 The 2023 season is over for the New York Giants, and it is already time to start speculation on what this roster will look like when the team opens the season in 2024. There are 26 unrestricted free agents on the roster currently, and if the Giants want to see more success next season, a good number need to return. They have big decisions to make with some big names and some names that may not jump off the page.

Jan 9 Special Report - No rest for the weary, I guess. Not 24 hours after the Giants' stunning win over Philadelphia on Sunday evening, change has come to East Rutherford. After the team and media gathered at the team facilities Monday morning for a wrap-up press conference, general manager Joe Schoen announced that Special Teams Coordinator Thomas McGaughey, offensive line coach Bobby Williams, outside linebackers coach Drew Wilkins and his brother, defensive assistant Kevin Wilkins, had been let go.
And just a few hours later, several reports came out that Defensive Coordinator Wink Martindale would resign. It is thought that the Wilkins brothers, who both coached under Martindale in Baltimore, were let go after the team was aware that Martindale would step down. You asked for change, you got it. Earlier in the day, Daboll told the media that he expected both Martindale and Offensive Coordinator Mike Kafka to return in response to a question about further changes.

On Sunday the Philadelphia Eagles held a 21-6 lead at the half in their game with the Arizona Cardinals. They didn't score again until the fourth quarter, while the Cardinals added 29 points to hand the Eagles a 35-31 loss.
The Giants had opportunities to win in their game at home last week against the Los Angeles Rams. They also made mistakes that overrode their efforts, and took a 26-25 loss.

Jan 6 Dexter Lawrence has joined a small and very select group of Giants defensive linemen. The fifth-year pro was named the Giants' only 2023 Pro Bowler. He is the first Giants defensive lineman to receive the honor in consecutive seasons since end Jason Pierre-Paul in 2011-12, and the team's first interior lineman to be selected to multiple Pro Bowls since tackle Arnie Weinmeister went to four in a row from 1950-53. Lawrence is the first Giants player selected to successive Pro Bowls since safety Landon Collins from 2016-18.

Jan 5 It's the final week of the regular season, which means there are more than a few players who could be suiting up in a New York Giants uniform for the final time. There will be no playoffs this year. Instead, this week's finale for the Giants (5-11) is a Week 18 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles at MetLife Stadium. Not quite the same as the divisional-round matchup the two teams had last January.

Jan 4 Saquon Barkley, Giants about to begin contract dance again. A second straight offseason of wondering if Barkley and the Giants will reach a long-term deal, if the Giants will let him head to free agency or if they will try to franchise tag him again is about to begin. Barkley, who has always said and continues to say he would like to spend his entire career with the Giants, knows Sunday's game at MetLife Stadium could be his last one as part of the home team.

Jan 3 Dane Belton again demonstrated that he's a ball magnet, intercepting two Stafford passes and recovering a fumble by Demarcus Robinson. His second pick set up Mason Crosby's 32-yard field goal that lifted the Giants to within 20-19 early in the fourth quarter.
Belton is one of five players with a team-leading two interceptions. He also has 23 defensive tackles (13 solo) and four special teams tackles. In two seasons, Belton has four interceptions and three fumble recoveries. How does the ball keep finding him?

Jan 2 Six New Year's resolutions for the New York Giants. Things the Giants must take care of this off-season to turn their season around. Ahead lies a fresh start for general manager Joe Schoen, head coach Brian Daboll, and the rest of the organization, starting with their being in the top five of the NFL draft order (barring anything screwy from happening) to having a healthy amount of financial assets with which to work in adding talent to a team that was strong in some areas but weak in others.

Game 16 Preview - Giants (5-10) Rams (8-7)
The Los Angeles Rams had a 30-7 fourth quarter lead in their Thursday night game with the New Orleans Saints. The Rams had to hang tough when the Saints added two scores, and they won the game with a 30-22 score.
On Christmas day the Giants were mostly stagnant in the first half of their game in Philadelphia. Trailing 20-3 to the Eagles, they made a quarterback change. The Giants scored three touchdowns after that, but it wasn't enough to avoid a 33-25 loss.
