Giants lose to the Jets 34-27

"This game was disappointing in so many ways. Daniel Jones had four touchdown passes and no interceptions, and we lost. He did the same thing in the Detroit game, and we lost that one too. What does it take for the Giants to win a game? The Jets got off to a fast start, and before you knew it, the first quarter was over with them leading 14-0. The Giants had the ball for only three plays on their first drive, and lost 10 yards.
The second drive would have ended quickly too if Jones wasn't able to hit Bennie Fowler for 11 yards on a 3rd-and-9. The Jets got too eager, and committed three penalties that helped the Giants finish up the drive with a Darius Slayton 5-yard touchdown catch."
On the Giants next series, Rhett Ellison continued to catch every pass that came his way, as well as Darius Slayton. On a 4th-and-4 from the Jets 39-yard line Jones hit Slayton, who took it in for a touchdown. This was all too good for the Giants, so of course there was a bad snap on the extra point attempt that would have tied the score.
On the Giants next drive, Pat Shurmur was maybe feeling a little too good about his recent success and went for a 4th-and-1, even though the ball was at the Giants 39-yard line. The quarterback sneak play didn't work, and luckily the Jets were only able to gain a few yards. Their attempt at a long 54-yard field goal didn't work, and soon the half was over with the Jets leading 14-13.
Three plays into the third quarter, Jones was sacked for the second time in the game, and he let Jets' Jamal Adams grab the ball from his arms, and he run it in for a touchdown. Jones made up for that on the next series. On a 3rd-and-9, he threw a screen pass to Golden Tate who took it downfield for a 61-yard touchdown. Shurmur decided to go for a 2-point conversion, but they ended up with a penalty. Now with the ball further back, Aldrick Rosas missed the extra point, so the score was Jets 21 - Giants 19.
On the Giants next drive, Saquon Barkley still wasn't getting anywhere running the ball, but he caught a pass from Jones and took it 22 yards. Then Jones scrambled for 9 yards before throwing a 15 yard touchdown pass to Golden Tate. This time the 2-point conversion worked, and the Giants were up 27-21. Their lead disappeared when the Jets scored a field goal and a touchdown on their next two drives.
We were in the fourth quarter now and the Giants really needed to score on this next drive, but with a 4th-and-2 at their 44 yard line they had to punt. The Jets added another field goal to put them ahead 34-27. A big 10-yard sack killed the Giants next drive. The defense held the Jets to a 3-and-out. The Giants lost yardage on their next 3-and-out series with Jones taking a 7-yard sack. The Giants had blown all their timeouts, and so the Jets were able to take almost two and a half minutes off the clock, leaving the Giants with 18 seconds.
On their third and last play of the game, with 83 yards to cover, Jones hit Slayton with an 8-yard pass, and he tried to lateral the ball around. There was no miracle touchdown, and the Jets got to celebrate their second win of the season. The Giants will be off on their bye week, and we'll all be stewing for a while over losing yet another game they could have won."

"Pat Shurmur really has to think about his playcalling abilities. We'll get back to that. In this game, Daniel Jones made use of the weapons he had, completing 26 of his 40 passes for 308 yards and 2 touchdowns each to Darius Slayton and Golden Tate. Jones also connected on every pass to Rhett Ellison and Saquon Barkley. Unfortunately, he also had 3 fumbles, losing 1 over to the Jets.
It wasn't actually lost. It looked more like a NY style subway mugging. Jets safety Jamal Adams grabbed the ball from Jones' hands and took off with it for a touchdown. Jones looked shocked and bewildered, behaving as though he was an out of towner having his iPad ripped from his hands, but instead, this was a football mugging that gave the Jets an easy score to put the Giants down 21 -13.
I would say that Jamal Adams had an exceptional game, except for the fact that he is actually an exceptional player, and Adams ended up with 2 of the Jets 6 sacks.
Jones, this week was working behind a makeshift offensive line. Going into the game, the Giants had to substitute for center Jon Halapio and right tackle Mike Remmers. Spencer Pulley replaced Jon Halapio and Nick Gates was in for Mike Remmers. Then, left tackle Nate Solder had to leave the game in the second quarter. None of this helped Jones, who still has to improve on his pocket awareness, or Barkley, looking for some better blocking for his runs.
At the end of the first half, Barkley had run the ball 8 times, and had gained a total of 8 yards. Wayne Gallman had tried it once, and got 2 yards. The Giants knew going in that the Jets ranked 6th in the NFL at stopping the run. That was the strength of the Jets defense, their weakness being a pass defense that gives up 263 yards per game. That didn't stop Shurmur from running Barkley, who certainly didn't look to be himself, 5 more times in the second half for an overall yardage loss on those attempts. Gallman had no carries at all in the second half.
Jones continued to take advantage of the Jets secondary, and finished with 308 yards and 4 touchdowns. If his offensive line was more solid, the Giants would have won this game.
The defense could have played better from the start, where they let the Jets control the ball for the whole first quarter putting up two touchdowns in the process. They did keep Jets running back Le'Veon Bell in check throughout the game. Bell averaged less than 2 yards a carry, and his longest run was just 4 yards.
With all that, the Giants held a 27-21 lead in the third quarter, but the offense fizzled out with punts on four consecutive series. Meanwhile, the Jets added a field goal, a touchdown, and another field goal, before punting on a drive, where d
own by 7 points, Shurmur used up the last of his timeouts. There was still more than four minutes left on the clock. The Jets had a third-and-one at the 4:23 mark when Shurmur burned the last one.
The Jets didn't make that first down, and the Giants had enough time to lose 9 yards before what became their final punt in the game. After the Jets next drive killed more clock, the Giants had no field position, and just 18 seconds to try and tie the score, and that didn't work. The Giants have a bye before they play the Bears in Chicago, and maybe there's enough time for some players to heal up during that break."
