Giants
lose to Green Bay 31-13 "Well
another game, and another loss for the New York Giants. It was almost expected
the way this season has been going. Of course, you almost sound like a crybaby
that your favorite team loses a game to Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers,
but come on, the Giants have now lost eight straight games! The Giants started
off the game going three-and-out, after Saquon Barkley lost yardage trying to
run up the middle to gain one yard for a first down. The Packers took over and
scored when Rodgers hit Davante Adams with a touchdown pass. The Giants didn't
back down on their turn, with Daniel Jones completing a pass to Darius Slayton
on a fourth-and-five. Jones finished the drive with a nice 18-yard touchdown pass
to Sterling Shepard, and the score was tied at 7-7. Rodgers wasn't going to let
that stand, and after running 15 yards for a first down, he soon was throwing
another touchdown pass, this time to Allen Lazard who was left wide open by the
Giants secondary. Less than a minute into the second quarter, Jones threw
an interception. The Packers settled for a field goal on their drive. The Giants
had to get through two fourth down plays to keep their drive going, but faced
with a 4th-and-goal at the Packers 9-yard line, they settled for the easy field
goal. The Giants defense held the Packers scoreless for the first time in the
game, and before you knew it, the half was over with the Green Bay up 17-10. The
Giants were the first team to score in the third quarter with another field goal.
That made things closer and give the fans some hope, but Green Bay took over after
that. In the fourth quarter they scored a touchdown, intercepted Jones, scored
another touchdown, and intercepted Jones again. The Giants didn't get the
ball back until there was about four minutes left in the game. Jones failed to
complete a pass to Shepard on a 4th-and-4 at the Green Bay 17 yard line, at the
two minute mark. It wasn't the best day for the fans at MetLife Stadium watching
all this with the snow, and then rain coming down. Like most, I was rooting for
the Giants all the way of course, but it's always great to see Aaron Rodgers on
the field, making those great plays that he always seems to be able to pull off.
It's just too bad that the Giants ended up with a 31-13 loss."
"The
Giants had the game tied for a short period of time in the first quarter. Right
after Aaron Rodgers came in to throw his second touchdown of the day, Daniel Jones
threw his first interception. In the second quarter both teams had field goals.
In the third quarter Aldrick Rosas was back to form, working with his new snapper,
and he got the Giants as close as they would come in this game, kicking another
field goal to have the Giants trailing 17-13. After that, Rodgers threw two
more touchdowns and Jones two more interceptions. We all know if your quarterback
is throwing interceptions and the other touchdowns, your team will lose, and the
Giants did just that with a 31-13 score. The Giants defense played their usual
game. There were no sacks and not much of a pass rush, and the secondary had their
usual lapses. Things have been going this way for a while now. They did hold the
Packers to only 79 yards on the ground, with Rodgers scrambling for 24 of them,
but you barely noticed that with him throwing four touchdowns. It was surely a
long shot anyway, but this loss officially eliminated the Giants from the playoffs.
Next they are off to visit the Philadelphia Eagles for a Monday Night Football
game."
